This wonderful hotel is only let down a little by its breakfast service Had breakfast twice, and both times the service wasn't great The food was poor the first time, but there was a big improvement the 2nd time

The location next to the river is beautiful The rooms are big and clean The bathroom was well stocked with products Lots of free parking Checking in and out was quick and easy The leisure facilities were a good bonus

There was dried milk stains down the front of the drawer unit ! The breakfast was a buffet and not that much choice for a vegetarian. I had indicated prior to arrival that we were both vegetarian. The car park at night was very dark and I did report the problem. I was told that they had been having problems. No indication as to when the lights might be working again.

The room was comfortable and had a shared balcony but overlooking the car park.

First day of arrival I asked for two more pillows for because of my health needs it took from four o'clock till 10 o'clock at night and even then I had to call down again to find out whether it was possible to get the pillows I think this could have been improved and quicker

Friendly staff lovely clean comfortable room and the spa area and pull was a joy to be in every morning one going down to the restaurant for breakfast always welcome to it was a good experience while done to this hotel

Breakfast was so so, not a great choice and the cooked breakfast items were mediocre. Some parts of the hotel do look a little dated, the room we stayed in could be made a little more modern

The pool was great for the kids and the attedent was helpful and warm and friendly. We had reaaly good fun. The bar staff were also very helpful. The family room size was great and te room was quiet and we slept well.

Wi-Fi was weak in our room (106). Could do with a coat of paint in some areas and better cleaning. Lack of choice of methods of cooking eggs at breakfast. Only had scrambled only as a choice. Would have liked fried or poached eggs. Or pushing the boat out with a omelette cook to order?

Very helpful and friendly staff. They did a great job from the moment the guests arrived to the moment they leave the hotel. Breakfast was great, compliments to the chef and waiting staff. The location was perfect to use as a base to explore the area.

The carpets weren't particularly clean in the hotel corridors. There's a general tiredness to the interior design which I have no problem overlooking, but when. It's not well maintained it becomes more noticeable. Also breakfast options were cold and limited. I heard many other guests complain about the toaster.

Location was fantastic, the river and the train line going past, and nice and close to Windermere. The price for breakfast included was amazing. Also inclusion of the spa and pool was great, it's lovely to see an old building still being used.

A better choice at breakfast could be offered and pool could have been warmer, food slow downstairs in Dolly Blue and lacking in atmosphere and modern music

Good English breakfast on offer but no other choice seemed to be available liked the swimming pool

The rooms were a little dated and when I contacted the hotel to make the twin beds up as a double I was told that this wasn’t available to do even though when we checked into the room we were able to ouch the beds together ourselves.

The location of the property is amazing. Right at the bottom of the Lake District. The river running alongside makes for a very tranquil setting. The spa facilities are available to use before you check in and after, which makes a nice change. Danielle, our server in the restaurant is brilliant and made our stay more enjoyable. The evening meal was beautiful and good value for money.

Room is big and clean, here and there little old spider webs but won't complain much as it was a really great value for money and really enjoyed staying here. Restaurant was actually surprisingly good. Food was nice and tasty. The spa was amazing! Not crowded. It was nice

Bedroom was a bit bit dark and dated but then again in keeping with property age. Furniture well made and fitted. The room and en-suite were both very clean . Entrance reception dull and not very inviting but receptionist pleasant .

The dining room is large but also somehow intimate. It is clean and well laid out staff attentive and pleasant. My partner and I just had the haddock and chips for dinner but it was the best haddock and chips we had ever had anywhere - we may go back again just for that

The kitchen closed very early on a Thursday night, 7.30pm in our case, as they clearly were not busy so which ever day, be sure to book. The food in the Dolly Bar was generally "deep fried" and not of very good quality and lacking choice. I was of the belief that, having read the reviews, there were other pubs & restaurants in the local area, within walking distance from the hotel. This isn't the case at all and meant that since we wanted to enjoy a glass or two of wine, we were limited to eating at the hotel each night. A car is absolutely necessary.

Room was spacious with a double and a single bed. Lots of room for hanging clothes. Coffee & tea plus nice biscuits! Nice view overlooking the river & waterfall. The room and bathroom were extremely clean and beds & linen good quality. I didn't eat breakfast and dinner was good - plentiful and quite a good choice. Large wine list of "by the glass" as well as bottles. Reasonably priced but not give away! I was a bit surprised that the kitchen closed at 7.30pm on a Thursday night but the chef made a very kind gesture to stay until we ordered around 8pm however, due to our journey taking longer than we'd thought and our late arrival. It was very kind of him. Be sure to book if you wish to eat at the restaurant as even in March, it was fully booked on Friday and Saturday nights. Spa was very comfortable and clean but again be sure to book well in advance, even as much as 4 weeks! Spa closed on Sunday and Monday.
