Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The breakfast was a mixture of under-cooked, spot-on and over-cooked food which should not have been served. I left most of it as the grilled tomato was burnt on the cut-edge and rock-hard underneath, the bacon was over-cooked and difficult to cut, the poached egg was spot-on and the black pudding was too dry. Not good overall!

Plumbing in our bathroom left a lot to be desired. We did mention this on departure.
Lovely building, lovely room (suite). Staff were friendly and helpful, nice bar, excellent breakfast.

Bathroom floor was very cold to walk on. No lift. Bath water was not quite hot enough.

The room was quite cold, not freezing but couldn’t alter the temperature. I seem to be in the basement , took a maze of corridors and steps to actually find my room.
A little old-fashioned and dated , but that’s what I expected

I've known the hotel and been there before, so it was a nice coming back - after about 20 years :-) The hotel is in a beautifully set location, very tranquil and was a very nice welcome as my first night in England. LOVE this place!

The staff was multitasking in various roles, you're lucky they are so dedicated to not making mistakes. Please hire more and allow them to focus. I liked everything otherwise. I believe the pub could add more dining space and attract more non guests, make it a destination in the area. You should offer Valentines packages and other seasonal experiences for couples too.
Superb staff at the desk. Spacious room. Luxurious decoration around the bed. Tasty breakfast. Strong menu at the pub.

Although the room was spacious there wasn't much in it so it felt quite empty. You have wardrobe and sofa for relaxing but this is very far away from the TV and at the complete wrong angle. The bathroom was quite cold as the electric radiator didn't seem to work but it was a very cold night so maybe it isn't like this all the time.
I stopped in a suite room, the room itself was very spacious and heated well especially for as cold a night as it was. Bed was comfy and sockets were easy to get to for charging phones/laptops etc. The Bathroom was again spacious with the amities you could require if you had forgotten anything. The food and breakfast was very fairly priced and excellent and drinks are readily available and also a fair cost. The grounds surrounding the area also look great although I didn't get to see everything due to arrival time and having to leave earlier.

very comfy bed and pillows, nice view from room, the radiators were hot and I liked the stand alone wardrobes and wood panelling, a great historical building, food was really nice too and the decor had some quirky features which I liked. Thoroughly recommend.
