Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

It didn’t seem like enough staff were on duty. When we arrived there was one staff member checking people in, fetching irons, running the bar, answering the phone, the poor guy was rushed off his feet. When we returned to the hotel in the evening there was no-one on reception at all and a fellow guest who had locked themselves out of their room couldn’t contact anyone on the ‘out of hours’ number. That said a business that offers a value hotel has to find the cost savings somewhere I guess.
Great location for the Piece Hall and the free parking was a bonus. Our room was lovely and clean and comfortable and the bathroom was massive! The staff were all helpful and friendly. The breakfast was plentiful and replenished constantly.

Breakfast was a little disappointing. Bacon was very fatty and the mushrooms were nasty but the waitress was lovely and cannot really call that a complaint x

The bedroom was a bit dated and could do with some snagging. Bed was wobbly.

The hotel is starting to look its age needs some modernisation especially in the communal spaces and the bedrooms but none of it was dirty and that can be held as a credit to the staff
The staff were all really helpful and polite and really listened to us and paid attention we were visiting for a wedding and they asked us the day after how our day had gone and seemed really interested to hear our replies not just obligatory politeness

The hotel is a bit tired. Rooms could do with a overhall. Replacing some of the very tired furniture and beds. But I suppose worth what you are paying
Really nice food in the restaurant. Bar area really nice, and good prices for the drinks. Great location for gettting in Halifax centre (10/15 min walk)

the fact we couldn’t have food at the property due to being fully booked and not taking my prebooking to arrive and the restaurant being empty and extremely quiet. all tables cleaned and closed when I was informed on booking food was available until 9pm and could have room service which is not the case

The radiator in the bathroom wasn't on and I couldn't turn it on .
The location to the town Centre is very good . The rooms are comfy and clean . Breakfast is good with a great choice . Free car parking . Staff very friendly and knowledgeable .

The room had bedside lamp but couldn't find a plug socket to plug it into. Only 1 double socket for the whole room.
Location 5 mins from train station. Breakfast very good. Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely view from room over church and memorial.

It’s a little tired’, let down by its state of decoration and finish particularly in the bathroom. It’s in such a great location and a few pounds spent on refurbishment would make it a superb hotel!

Evening meal was average. Not much choice of wine but bar was well stocked.
