How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Location. Very hard to find. Underground trains to and from hostel unreliable.
Brwakfast was good value. Spotessly clean everywhere. Room only had gour bunks and private bathroom so not too crowded. Beds extremeky comfortable

Plug beside bed didnt work had to change beds in middle of night to charge phone. No curtains on bed so you cant turn on night light. Terrible location and as there no signage and it dont appear on London street maps I spent hours trying to find it after I went out.
Hostel was spotlessly clean. Staff so helpful and welcoming. Breakfast great value and beds so comfortable

Hostel is impossible to find. Everytime I went out I would spend hours walking round trying to find it even though google maps would say its only 18 minutes from west end etc. This meant it was really stressful every time I tried to find my way back- its not on street maps. Bunks lack curtains so when you come back at night you cannot see anything to get into bed cause you cannot turn on light.
Hostel was excellent. Staff so welcoming I was surprised when I arrived. Ive been to other hostels and they were not friendly. The girl at reception told me about facilities and breakfast etc. I was in a room with four bunks so it was not crowded. There was ensuite bathroom which was nice and even had soap in it. Room was spotless. Had hangers and shelves for your bags. Beds are so comfortable. Hostel so clean and relaxing which is surprising for a hostel. You can get wifi in rooms and anywhere (in YHA St. Paul's wifi only works in reception). There is a shelf beside bed for your phone to charge. I had continental breakfast which was good quality and surprisingly good coffee. Highly recommend. Reception open 24hrs

nothing particular !
To be honest, it was the first time I booked a hostel with shared room. It was excellent experience!! Very clean ! Ensuite bathroom for a female room for 4. I travelled alone so it was a fantastic option for solo travellers. I was impressed from the cleaness, the nice room with the big window, and the bed. Excellent ! And super value for money in the heart of London ! I really appreciated the soap in the bathroom. In general the hotel is very tidy, clean and friendly, with lovely staff and happy travellers around :) :) I will definately go again !

1 toilet and 1 shower per like 3 rooms, each with 8 people, is pushing it a bit!
Bed was comfortable, room was warm and quiet, other guests and staff were nice. 24 hour reception/lounge area. Good location, nice shared areas with good free wifi.

I think hostels in general should have some policy for switching on the lights at night. The other guests (with whom I was sharing the room) were coming inside even after midnight and kept switching on the lights. They even ignored my request to switch them off. I don't mind people coming inside and quietly preparing to sleep, but the lamps were extremely disturbing. It's just peak ignorance, the main principle should be being considerate. I needed to get at least a few hours of sleep and I just couldn't because of the other guests being reckless... Even the small lamps at the beds just fill the room with light and the beds don't have curtains so it's very annoying.
Cleanliness and comfort, overall service. Excellent location, safety.. The staff were very nice to me.

I enjoyed staying in this hostel while travelling for work London central area; the location is perfect, easy to get around. Although rooms are comfortable, and not ventilated well, felt suffocated during the night. Very clean and maintained kitchen and common area.
