To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

ItalyFirst of all, the rooms don't look as nice as in the pictures, they are quite kitsch and uncozy.The hotel doesn't have any direct view to the sea, so whatever sea you see in the pictures, it's by chance/perspective. I wrote to the hotel asking for a room with a sea view, since you can spot a bit of sea here and there in the pictures. Their answer was that no room had a direct view, and the room we got had an appalling view to some sort of black reservoir and to the hotel heating machinery, awful. We would have been disturbed by the noise the heaters made, but unfortunately there was a bigger noise that covered that up; the hotel is located above a cafe that plays its music very loudly. We called the reception, who invited us to call the police (I would have expected THEM to call the police), we called twice the bar, and finally we called the police ourselves. After that, we managed to get some sleep. I wouldn't advice this hotel to my worst enemy.
I quite disliked this place.

AustriaIn our opinion, the rooms, could have been better equipped. Both of our rooms only had one trash can and the design looked much better on the pictures compared to real life. The bathroom of one of the rooms was very small and rather uncomfortable. The Breakfast that we booked in advance was not really what we expected for the money. It was tough to communicate a different breakfast other that the rather simple sandwich. In the end it would have been easier/better to just order from the cafe/bars breakfast menu.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. He showed us the best spots and restaurants to see in the area and gave advice whenever he could. The location was great as it was very central and perfect for day trips around the island. The rooms were also clean, as there was room service every day. The building itself is very beautiful and well restored.
