Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumDiner was not so good. Water was not really hot in the shower Expensive for Guatemala
Well located, the rooms and the place itself were beautiful. We had a room with garden for the dog that was nice and big. Open fire with wood ready in the room. We had a Bath in the room. Staff was friendly. The breakfast was good and they have a nice selection of tea.

ColombiaThe location is perfect. Allison, who checked us in, is absolutely amazing, so nice and helpful, as the rest of the staff. Our experience wasn’t perfect only because of one person (manager, I believe). We were told by three different staff members that we could check out one hour later (at 12pm) without paying since there was no one else checking in, and therefore they allow it, she later told us it was absolutely impossible because someone else was checking in at three. Once we asked if we could pay to check out one hour later, she then changed her whole story and arguments saying ok no problem “we’ll tell the people checking in that the room will be ready later”. Really ? If someone was really checking in would she just have told them to do it later ? Besides this lady, our experience was great.
Location and most of the staff is great.

FinlandFood at the hotel's restaurant was bit disappointing. Several of the meals our group ate had problems (tasteless spaghetti, chewy meat, cold coffee etc.). Times to eat lunch and dinner were very strict. So when we arrived the check-in time 3pm, there was nothing to eat. Lunch had just finished at 2pm and dinner started at 7pm and lasted till 9pm. Such a beautiful hotel could do better with the food offering :)
Beautiful hotel with historical atmosphere and rooms had antique styled furniture. Location excellent next to town marketplace and not far from the cemetery.

United StatesNot the hotels fault, but as you arrive, there will be tour guides who act like they work for the hotel. Just be aware they don't, but they may follow you around to offer tours at 200Q per person to just walk the way you can on your own. If you are driving to the location, Google maps will lead you straight into the market area, and the roads are TIGHT! Look at your route ahead and avoid the areas around the churches at all cost with a vehicle There is no backing up once you're on a route as a tuktuk or 10 will be right behind you. It is terrifying and the roads are steep so if you have an automatic be sure your comfortable in tight steep spots The beds are AlL single beds. Wr didn't mind but be sure your ok with it and there is no ac to speak of in the rooms
The property is amazing and very unique and the staff is kind. The hot water takes some time but that's no big deal. This isn't a place I'd want to stay for a week but over night to see chichicastenango is well worth it. The market on Thursday comes right to the doors of the property. The views of the cemetery are stunning and the restaurant food was delicious. I love all the antique furniture and original woodwork. The history of this montesary gives it a very special feel. Even if you aren't religious. The staff were super kind and the front desk was so easy to communicate with and to help you plan your stay It's easy to walk from here to anywhere you want to see in the city.

United StatesLike many places in Guatemala, there was lukewarm warm water at best. It was good enough to rinse off the dust from the hike I did that day but not the soothing hot shower I am looking forward to. Not a surprise though. The restaurant was la k luster at best. In spite of that I recommend this iconic historic Inn
Very atmospheric and historic. The room was large and carried the historic nature of the property well. The bed was comfortable if firm. Plenty of blankets. The wood fire place was amazing. The staff was kind and eager to assist in anyway.

United StatesThe toilet was difficult to ensure a full flush and refill. Poor water pressure in the shower. Only one small jug of potable water was available to us. We were immediately accosted by a tour guide at the entrance to the hotel who was very persistent and pressured us into spending more time with him than we wanted.
Beautiful building and property, in the middle of town , next to the market and churches. Breakfast was hearty and delicious.

GeorgiaWith history comes a 'historical' bathroom. The shower was the only weak point. The shower head in our room was more like a faucet than a showerhead.
A living museum just 1 minute from the famous market! Each room is unique and stunning. The courtyard is instagram worthy and the staff were very helpful and responsive. Breakfast was served in a historic dining room and was one of the highest quality examples of a 'desayuno tipico' we had in Guatemala

The hotel is a charming, hacienda style accommodation in Chichicastenango. It's just steps away from the main plaza where they hold the famous market. Parking was easy and the breakfast was good but limited. If we were back we would definitely stay here.

Spacious hotel on great location, near famous market and colourful cemetery, with nice garden. WiFi is available only in common places. Staff is very kind, breakfast is ok, better side of it is nice view of cemetery from restaurant. Room is ok, little bit dark and water pressure in bathroom was not so great. Also colder water than expected. They have 3 parrots in the garden.

United StatesThe only complaint we had, but it was a significant one, is that the shower didn’t have hot water. Even after running the water for the required 4 minutes to get hot water (and then for far longer), the water never really warmed up - it was tepid at best, just barely warm enough to get into the water.
This is a beautiful and centrally located hotel with very helpful staff and a good breakfast that was included. Our room was spacious and even included two very comfortable chairs (a rarity).

GermanyThe coffee was terrible at breakfast. Also, we didn't get the full breakfast described on the menu (and very little jam). Breakfast could be improved.
Very friendly hotel staff, authentic place (although people have mentioned it being dingy - it is an old monastery after all). I think the pricing was completely fair (and a little higher, because it was a market day). It was nice they had a decent restaurant and breakfast included. I really liked the fireplace and the service they offered (for someone to come and turn it on). Location is perfect for exploring the market as it is right next to it.

FranceNo heating in the rooms. You need to make a fire in the chimney. You should be aware of it when temperature goes down at 5 degrees Celsius. In addition, if the hotel is full, there is no water in the toilets nor hot water in the shower for several hours. No joke.
