눉There weren't any croissants for breakfast. The generous breakfast includes cold meats and cheese, and so will appeal to German guests. It's generous, but probably too much for many people, who might prefer, guess what, a croissant, some toast and coffee ad lib (there's a decent baker nearby). This isn't to say breakfast was bad or poor value - it was the reverse. We had a long bus trip ahead and made up sandwiches from what was offered.
눇A green metal door set into a wall at the end of a 30-metre long alley gives no hint of what lies beyond. The Bokun Guesthouse is an oasis of calm just beyond the traffic din and crowds of the ferry port -- and only a 25-minute walk or five-minute bus ride from Dubrovnik's old city. The proprietor, Toni Bokun, and his family live in one wing of an old stone villa, which is surrounded by a lovely garden on the potager model -- with flowers and vegetables growing together. There is also a delightful swimming pool and surrounding patio. Mr Bokun is justifiably proud of his establishment, the garden and his green credentials (he said he used no artificial chemicals in the pool, instead relying on some natural disinfectants and insect repellents). The water sparkled and felt good, too. I also liked his politics.

눇The owner was extra helpful, went above and beyond to accommodate us at a very anti social hour.
