Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The host didn’t advise us that they had a luggage room on-site. In all fairness, we did not ask. However we ended up paying €40 for luggage deposit at another location which could have been avoided.
The location is very central - within walking distance to transportation, Fashion Street, restaurants/bars, and even grocery shops. The apartment was clean and comfortable for a group of 4. The host also offered to arrange transfers to and from the airport, and also recommended some places to go.

Bathroom accessories such as towels, soap and shampoo are not provided enough. Towels are small and only one per person. Shampoo is one tiny bottle/ person and provided only one time.
Location, apartment, close to center and transportation. Street close by is active and full of restaurants

Confusing on arrival as not named as King Apartments on building, therefore no way of knowing how to enter, despite doorman on desk seeing you looking with cases but didn't offer any assistance or clues we were in correct place.
Location was good. Apartment facilities great.

Could have provided some basic toiletries.
Excellent location. Spacious well equipped apartment. Nice to have a balcony overlooking a quiet courtyard.

Everything was good, but just needed the shower head to be fixed higher ,so you can stand in the shower.

WiFi signal in bedroom is veeeeery weak and installation of a more powerful router would solve the problem, but... in bedroom we should sleep and not stare into phone on the other hand ;)
Big great apartment with everything you need for a short stay. Very cool huge balcony where you can drink coffee if weather permits it ;)

Bed was a bit hard but about expected for on holiday!

Didn’t receive body towels, but did have hand ones, luckily it was a short stay and didn’t have shower

Very good location in the city center, but no noise because the windows face the courtyard. Parking lot with a price two times lower than on public parking

There was no trash bin in the bathroom and no towel to dry hands in the toilet room. The pillows on the bed were not the best. There was noise from the nearest construction site throughout the whole day and it started quite early.
The apartment is big enough and the location is great. The staff were helpful with everything.

The first apartment was really small, a little bit tatty, the safe didn't work and the kitchen light was flickering. We could have lived with these issues, to be fair, as the price was so cheap. However, the bathroom door had no lock and didn't even close properly. The staff moved us quickly and this apartment was excellent with no issues.

The smell of chlorine around all apartment. We were forced to ventilate the apartment twice

No shower gel / shampoo. Sending tons of messages prior to arrival, what is difficult to follow and read through, some even with irrelevant info for someone (spamming). Price during the Christmas time is insanely high, overpriced.

The apartment was not as described at the booking. It should have 2 double beds and a sofa instead it was just one bed, a sofa and a support bed that was really uncomfortable. Not so clean. WI-FI did not work. No voice insulation in the building.
