눉If you've stayed at other hostels around Europe, it might feel a bit pricey. For Reykjavik, not quite so much though. If you can afford it, it's worth it. Also, if you're able to get a pod, it's worth the splurge to get a little "time out". The hostel is maybe an extra 20 minutes walk from the main downtown bars etc. I also spent a week downtown, and I actually preferred this location - it's a reasonable little walk downtown and straight along laugavetur, but you dont have to hear the party out your window all night. There's a branch of Reykjavik roasters (great coffee) up the street and the area in that direction is fun to explore.
눇This is one of the best hostels I've stayed at. I ended up staying an extra night so I had the opportunity to experience the standard bunk beds as well as the pods. The bunk beds were huge (double) and the most comfortable I've ever slept on at a hostel. The pods were awesome - they have their own lighting, outlets, and a sliding door for when you need some alone time (hard to come by in a hostel). Comfortable mattresses and duvets, with sheets included in the cost. The rooms themselves were large with giant windows. The space is really unique. When you enter you can take the lift or take the large spiral staircase up to the third floor. When you enter at the reception, you walk into an open lobby/hang out area with music and huge cozy couches. It looks like you've stepped into somebody's decked out pad, but don't worry it's the right place. The staff had some Icelandic documentaries that they put on for some of the guests as well. The location of the lounge made it a great central point for bumping into other travellers and starting up conversation. Kitchen was stocked with free coffee, and had everything you could need. Washrooms and showers are gender neutral closed units and are, again, the nicest and cleanest showers I've had at a hostel (don't mind the egg smell, it's the sulphur in the water, and you'll get it everywhere). The staff (management as well as the staff who were cleaning) were always available, helpful, friendly and super accommodating. Overall, I'm incredibly impressed by this place. These guys have really done their homework. A+. I will be staying here on my next trip.
