Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe room was booked as a shared bathroom but I didn't like having to pre-book a shower time. Still for Venice it was a good price.
Very close to the station, easy to find, kind welcome, very quiet even though it was on a main route into Venice. The hotel very kindly kept my bag for me all day and I collected it on the way past to the station.

CanadaThe bathroom was a bit run-down with mildew-discolouring on parts of the wall and has an older finicky shower that takes a long time to heat up, and the light-switch in the bedroom was partially held on with tape, but these minor issues and are fairly easy fixes to get it looking nicer. The main issue might be normal in Venice/Italy though, but I figured I'd let others know in case it isn't or if they aren't aware: To get out of the hotel early in the morning, we needed to wake up the staff member who sleeps in a room by reception, so he could unlock the door to get outside, which was a bit complicated since we had to guess he was in there. Having a method to leave early in the morning is important for safety and schedules. It would have been smoother if we had been aware to let him know about it. He did let us know that entering after midnight would mean waking him up using the buzzer outside the exterior door, but it wasn't obvious that getting out would also require him to unlock the door using a key. All-in-all, I would come back.
The staff was very friendly and the location was excellent. The WIFI speed was okay and it was consistently available. The bed was comfortable and the room was cleaned daily. The wardrobe was great to have. We stayed for a week and could have stayed longer :)

United KingdomIt did not give off a romantic vibe. I was travelling with my daughter and it was perfect for us.
It was a 5 minute walk from the train station. Very easy to find and a great central location.

United States of AmericaVenice has a lot of bridges, which means a lot stairs. Al Gobbo has no lift, so more stairs! That’s not really a compliant, it’s a reminder.
The location was close to the station and easy to find. At the same time, my room (#4) was quiet. Staying in a small, family-run hotel is the best way to experience a place like Venice and support Venetians! The proprietor was a tad gruff at first, but I found him helpful, patient and warm. He’s always on duty! I don’t get people finding him rude.

United States of AmericaNo fridge or washcloths. It was annoying to leave the key and have to get it from the desk every time we returned, but I know it's not unusual. The price seemed a little high for what you get but Venice is expensive.
Well-located in Canareggio. A long walk to areas of interest like Piazza San Marco, but a very charming walk at least. Beautiful tile in the common areas, and our room faced the back where it was nice and quiet. The room was small and basic but comfortable and clean. Outlets by the bedtables and wifi that was reasonably stable. It would be much improved with a mini-fridge and there were no washcloths. There are a couple of restaurants downstairs and shops/pharmacy nearby. The gentleman who works there (or maybe owns it?) was very aloof and not particularly welcoming, but he wasn't rude.

NetherlandsShower took a while to heat up, you have to hand in your key and the owner comes into your room when you're out. We unplugged the Television because it had a white light which made it hard to sleep and he got angry about that. Also a mini fridge or something would be nice, so you can store drinks in your room for in the morning or during the evenings.
Good location, very close to the train station so you don't have to walk far with luggage, and you're surrounded by shops and restaurants.

ItalyBlankets and pillows were quite thin. Glad it wasn't too cold. Toilet in shared bathroom was quite old, and took several flushes to work.
Close to the train station and near a nice square in the town. Very nice location for the price. Price is quite cheap.

United KingdomHaving to ask to use the shower. You also have to hand your room key into reception when you leave your room and get it back upon return. Some furniture was a bit old and you could tell by how flimsy some of the draws were. No big deal though.

BelgiumIt's okay, price-wise is good enough, you just have to pay extra for the use of aircon per day that is not really working well. They come inside your room whenever they like (I mean when we are out) make us feel uncomfortable really, some people treat that as invasion of privacy! For the rest the owners are helpful and friendly.

United KingdomWe were there in the monster heatwave so we could have done with an A/C option, but that is understandably challenging in an old building like this in a prime location.
Amazing location. Finding anywhere in this part of Venice at a decent price was always going to be challenging, so we didn't expect luxury. It was functional and as expected based on the information we used to book. Very helpful staff.
