Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomWe hadn't realised that the room we had selected had no tea and coffee making facilities and I love a cuppa in the mornings or when we came back from sightseeing. We paid for breakfast on both mornings but had to leave early on our last day, we asked could we have some food to take with us and I was very disappointed to find only crackers, jam, an apple and drinks. It would have been nice to have had a sandwich or a bit of cheese and bread. I would definately have given a top score for everything had these things been in place. For information only, our adult daughters room was on the other side of the hotel and I think we assumed it would be close by, not a problem for us but could be an issue for families.
Lovely hotel, very central to enable us to walk everywhere. Sienna was well worth a visit with lots of excellent cafe bars and restaurants nearby. Very clean room and comfortable bed. The breakfast buffet was excellent, water provided in the fridge. Staff at the reception desk are very welcoming and helpful.

Large room in a beautiful old building, and modern bathroom, quiet at night, good breakfast. Helpful reception. Stayed in a double room. The restaurant is very good if you are tired from your travels. Best pizza in Siena 200 meters to the left.

ArgentinaThere is no elevator!!! Our room was two floors up which means we had to carry our suitcases up. We did not know this.
The location was excelent. Super close to the historic center but just outside the ZTL (limited transit zone). The building is quaint.

AustraliaWe had to ask for more pillows and the two provided were thin and uncomfortable. With the two additional pillows one was thin and one was thicker... We stayed for multiple days and our tea samples were not replaced.
We liked the location, the breakfast and the staff were quite friendly.

BrazilThe room was noisy, you could hear other guests talking in the hallway and slamming doors. The breakfast, served in a beautiful room, is just ok, with few options, or poor quality options, and with replacement problems (the hotel was not full).
The location is excellent, very close to the square (Piazza Gramsci), where buses arrive and depart (the train station is very far from the historic center of Siena). Siena is a very beautiful city.

RomaniaThere were no vegetables at breakfast. TV was very small. There is no lift (given it’s a historic building), which may be inconvenient for some people, as floors are high (25 steps/ floor, roughly). Also note breakfast is served in the basement, so there are three floor to climb to the second floor from there. The personnel at the reception could smile more and be more accommodating, it does not cost anything.
Located in a former palazzo, Albergo Chiusarelli is a fine hotel in Siena. It is close to the historic centre, and to the main bus station. I booked a “large single room” but was upgraded to a double, on the second floor, room no 28. The room is large and was kept very clean throughout my stay, so was the bathroom which was recently renovated in a very elegant way. Towels were fluffy, of good quality. The mini-fridge proved useful. Heating was plentiful and adjustable from the room. Breakfast was varied and of good quality. I extended my stay for another night and was promptly given the same rate. Renovation was taking place on the first floor, but it did not affect me as I left in the morning and returned in the evening. Siena is a splendid Italian medieval town that’s worth at least a two-night stay, and Albergo Chiusarelli is a cosy, useful residence for any tourist.

United States of AmericaWe had to climb approximately 70 steps to go from breakfast to our room. The steps were marble and difficult to distinguish. Those with mobility issues would have difficulty.
