눉Couldn't sleep due to major noise issues - constant street noise from people & vehicles until 4:30am on a Saturday night, & very loud water pump noises anytime we or those in adjoining rooms used the sink, toilet, or shower. Wifi did not work at all in the room & was very slow & weak in the public areas, even when sitting only a few feet away from the router. Cigarette smoke from the designated smoking area drifted into the public common areas, & we could also smell it in our room. Would've been nice to have some sort of luggage rack in the room, and even one English-language TV/news station. There is no elevator so suitcases do need to be hauled up two flights of stairs, but Alibrandi discloses this in their 'fine print' so we were aware of it beforehand.
눇Excellent location for a pre- or post-cruise stay (an easy 10-minute walk to/from the train station, & a 12-15 minute walk to/from the cruise shuttle pick-up/drop-off parking lot off of Via Turco). The guest house & all rooms are extremely safe & secure. Good variety of store-bought, pre-packaged cakes, breads, cereal, yogurt, & juice (however, you will be disappointed if you're looking for any protein or hot food for breakfast).

눉Just two negatives: (1) the walls are thin and one can easily hear those in other rooms, the hallway and the breakfast room; and (2) a somewhat limited breakfast with an emphasis on sweet rolls.
눇Our comments on Alibrandi Palace follow, but first some comments on location for those taking a cruise - the only logical reason for staying in Civitavecchia. We made our reservation at the Alibrandi Palace in June 2015. A major reason (in addition to the excellent reviews on Booking.com) was the ability to walk a very short distance to the location (by the old fort) where the free shuttle busses departed for the cruise ships. (We were told one had to taker either the shuttle bus or a taxi, and could not just walk to the ship - which could be quite a walk depending on where one's ship was berthed.) Sometime between June and our cruise sailing date of 4 November 2015, the location from which the free shuttle busses departed moved approximately 1 mile to the north - precluding their use, and thus requiring a "taxi". Be aware; there are no taxis, only busses. A bus ride to any cruise ship is 5 Euros per person. Our bus made multiple pick-ups at other hotels after ours, and it took about 45 minutes to reach out ship. Had we known all of this, we cou8ld have stayed anywhere in Civitavecchia, as the busses service nearly all of the hotels. That said, we were still very pleased with our stay at the Alibrandi Palace (actually a B&B - not a hotel) with only a few negatives. On the plus side: (1) good and quiet location in the center of Civitavecchia, just a few steps to shops and restaurants (note that there are absolutely no tourist attractions worth one's time in Civitavecchia); (2) outstanding hosts, although their English is a bit limited; (3) very clean facilities; and (4) a very low price and a good value. If we were to sail again from Civitavecchia, we would certainly consider staying there again, although we would geographically broaden our search, given the requirement of taking a bus to the cruise ship in nearly all cases.
