Location-wise, the hotel is nestled in a serene area (in the heart of Sasso Caveoso), offering the tranquility we desired after a day of exploring. Yet, it's conveniently close to local attractions, making our explorations of the area hassle-free and enjoyable. Overall, our stay was delightful, thanks to the wonderful host, great breakfast, and ideal location. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat near the heart of the action.

The hotel is in a great location near restaurants in the old sassi, it’s so incredibly beautiful. The staff were so welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much for them. We asked to move rooms and paid to upgrade which was so worth it as the new room was so beautiful and spacious. Well worth booking above the lead in room if you can. Breakfast was tasty and good range. We loved our stay.

We like everything about the property, the perfect location in the center of old city of Matera. We had the chance to have a room upgrade and we really liked the room. The staff was excellent and we didn't have anything to complain about.

Absolutely no shield or curtain whatsoever between the bathroom and the bed/main room. Why not?

The breakfast was simply not good. We were the only couple apart from another 2 people. The eggs were cooked and allowed to go cold, we said this so they microwaved them, ughhhhh. bad cappucino

Situated in the heart of Sassi di Matera, the location was so convenient for us to walk around the rest of the old town. Sara was very helpful and made us reservations for lunch at Quad. She took the time to orient us to the town with a free map, and suggested a self-guided walking tour. The breakfast was very nice.

Our room was excellent. The beds were comfy, breakfast was abundant for Italy. They verified at check-in that we didn't have any allergies/intolerance so they would have proper ingredients for breakfast. The woman who checked us in gave us recommendations for an excellent walking tour.

I really didn’t have any complaints regarding the property. Throughout Matera, because of all the stone on the paths and roads, you need to be careful and wear shoes that makes sense for the area… I don’t recommend heels.

Not a thing that We didn't like.

Loved everything about Le Malve Cave Retreat and Matera, such an amazing place to visit and stay. I wish we were there longer. Best restaurant we had dinner at in Italy called QUID, a total must to go there!! The whole atmosphere of the old city was fantastic!

There was nothing we did not like, actually we did not like leaving the place and wonderful staff who are working there 😍

Everything, we cannot put it into words, the kindness and the human touch of everyone working there, especially Pier, we will always be grateful for everything you did for us! The location was also fabulous with an easy access to all the magnificent things you need to see in Matera. We highly recommend this beautiful place, but above all we recommend the dedicated team of people who make this place so special.

Front desk: sometimes no one there but the other staff would have to summon them. Breakfast not well served. Staff polite but did not circulate: offering coffee, cleaning used tables, etc. There should be a space under or near the breakfast offerings with plates, bowls, utensils, etc. Patrons had to pick up from their table plates etc. & carry them back & forth for everything. Not 4 star level.

For a 4 star hotel, breakfast food was good but too limited. Pleasant staff.
