Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaBeing from Australia, we were not used to the sweet food at breakfast & would have preferred more fruit!
In its heyday the villa must have been a wonderful property. Although nowadays a little tired, this did not effect our stay, with easy access, convenient location, & the staff, who were extremely helpful, spoke some English. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

DenmarkOur room was a bit small, and we had a room with view, which was to a tree and some grass, so that was not very impressive. The toilets flush did not work very well, and the fridge did not work at all (and apperently not in any other rooms either we were told). The grass and wilderness could have been cut a bit more as to encourage exploring there lovely surroundings, which they really present well in the pictures from the hotel (no pictures of any rooms).
Ideally located close to Arezzo. The receptionist was very kind and accommodating, and the personel was kind and friendly. The room was okay. The dinner served at the hotel was good, and a lovely options. The breakfast had many options, and were good. The surrounding area seemed intersting and if the weather had been better (and the grass and wilderness had been cut) we would probably have explored a bit more.

Beautiful place very close to Arezzo. Easy to reach. Beautiful view via window. Nice host and all the people making service. Big rooms and comfortable beds. Breakfast "a la carte" in typical Italian style. Good restaurant inside. I'd recommend.

United KingdomVery noisy with a stone staircase and lift directly in front of the room and above open dining rooms. Small outside area. Bed uncomfortable. Shabby and not so chic. Looks better on photos.
Pleasant welcome from front desk. Room although small had a balcony and a nice view and was clean.

MaltaWished we could have had our breakfast outside like in the photos.
Lovely staff and loved the location and view from our room. Food was good and so was the wine on offer. We had an issue with the hot water coming from the shower, however the lady at reception sorted it out very efficiently. We loved Coca Cola the cat too.

United KingdomPrevious reviews stated "quiet" and "tranquil", however this was not our experience because of 2 noisy weekend parties on the terrace with music and shouting until 1.00am. I would consider staying here again, but I would definitely want a guarantee of no party music after 11.00pm from the owner.
Beautiful rustic villa set in lovely grounds close to Arezzo. Really helpful staff, especially the young lady who spoke good English. Enjoyed our meal in their restaurant on the terrace too.

GermanyDue to the few guests our room has not been cleaned, but it was absolutely fine, because we only stayed 3 nights. The bikes had already been rented by other guests so we had to find another company. In Arezzo you can easily book/ rent city bikes so in the end it was no big deal. The charme of the Villa and the lovely people working there made everything wonderful!
The villa is unbelievable beautiful! Even if it was quite „empty“ with only a few guests, our stay was perfect! The owner and we think his family are super friendly. They gave their very best to let us enjoy our vacation! The restaurant is amazing and many vegetarian dishes are served. The local food and wines are fantastic!

CanadaBreakfast was not good. Sheets didn't seem like cotton, the rooms were like a school dormitory. Small beds and the bathroom shower doors were in need of replacing. Very little toiletries. We left a night earlier because it wasn't nice. Ok for those on a tight budget, or those who don't care.
The food at dinner was very nice. But the breakfast was cheap cakes and horrible sliced cheese with no flavor. They had sliced ham but it was dry, cheap and had no flavor. The owners were approachable and nice. And we liked the house cat, Coca Cola

GermanyOur main reason to book Casa Volpi was that it said both on booking.com and on their website (and on the big billboard they have in front of their house) that they had a bike rental. As we were travelling without car we literally relied on this for flexibility in our traveling. When we arrived (a 35min walk from Arezzo which is partly directly at the street - not very pleasant, esp if you have to do it several times instead of just once to get there) and asked about it they just said "no we don't have that", not even acknowledging that they advertise this pretty much everywhere. So no "sorry, we don't have that anymore and it's our fault it's still advertised everywhere. Here have a taxi voucher instead or 'we will try to call a few bike rentals elsewhere for you'" - nothing. All we got was the number of a local taxi company. First we thought we got it wrong and then double checked on our room but it was definitely announced. So we asked them again. This time the guy said "yes sorry, website hasn't been updated in a while" but still no trying to at least somehow make up for it. The highlight (yes this is sarcasm: one of the staff members recommended us an app to use to figure out how the busses go. Even in cheap hostels I had staff look these kind of things up for me instead of basically telling me "well look it up for yourself") There are really a lot of things I can ignore when things fall short in a hotel. But advertising something and then not providing and not even apologizing or compensating for it is really zero stars. Furthermore, a lot of the pictures on the website also seem from good times way back past. The terrace wasn't nearly as nice as depicted on the pictures (not even cushions on the iron chairs), chairs to lay down in (as can be seen on the images) nowhere to be found and also dinner and breakfast was served in two small rooms inside and not on the terrace.
Staff was young and nice and they were really trying their best but at the end they just fell a little short to what you would expect for the price. Probably just a matter of not being experienced enough yet. There is a very cute cat to cuddle. Dinner was tasty. Location, the house itself and the view is beautiful (however there is a street nearby that leads to the highway so you hear the cars - no absolute tranquility!) Rooms were fine and clean (even though the mattresses could be replaced soon - felt a little worn out)

SwitzerlandUnfortunately, we were only disappointed here. After booking and paying for a Superior room, we were called and told that this room was no longer available, only a Classico. We agreed as we had already paid for the room and needed something urgently. When we entered the room, it turned out to be a 3-bed room on the top floor, directly under the roof, without any view. We had also booked a table in the restaurant. When we arrived for dinner, the first thing we were told was what was not available. The menus that are on the table with the selection of wines, is not valid in the evening. We were only told this when we went to order. When I then wanted to order a Chianti from the wine list with dinner, we were also told that it was no longer available. When paying for the etxras, it was not possible to get a detailed bill. Conclusion: Everything is promised here and in the end nothing is kept. Unfortunately, we have to say that we just felt screwed here.. This is a great pity, because the location would have been very attractive. For us the first and last time here. We cannot give a recommendation.
