Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomI felt like I was in the Grand Hotel Budapest, in a good way. Probably the best hotel we stayed in during our trip to Sicily. Nice walk into the city as well. Breakfast was fine and I found the staff on the desk helpful and friendly.

ItalyThe location. It is neither in Siracuse nor Ortigia. We did walk to the historic ruins (which are great) but had to take a taxi to Ortigia. Too far to walk. There is a bus however. All in all, it was a good stay.
We like the fact that this is an old historic building and there is an effort to keep it in use and to keep in authentic, yet modern too! They continue to remodel and update. It's just such a beautiful classic structure.

GermanyMany facilities are closed in winter (swimming pool and private beach). Breakfast is OK, but not more than that.
It is a beautiful historic hotel! The hotel dates from 1862 and is surrounded by caves carved into the rock and next to the seaside. Good parking. Winston Churchill said during his holidays that in this hotel "I never rested so well in my life". Also Pope John Paul II stayed here. It is an authentic "Grand Hotel" and not very expensive.

FranceNothing really.
Well the room was great, but we had booked and had confirmed a suite, on arrival we were told no suite available but could have a less expensive room. The room was great and we saved ourselves 100 Euros so it all worked out OK. I think we should have been informed of this prior to arriving. Pool was also great. Restaurant was also great.

United KingdomThe hotel is a bit out on a limb and meant we used what we found expensive taxi s until we worked out the bus time tables and options but this was reflected in the overall ambience and cost .
The hotel was above our expectations in all regards and was an oasis of charm service and comfort. We particularly liked the building its garden setting and the swimming pool was welcome after a days sight seeing . We had a very enjoyable and pleasant stay and have no hesitation on recommending this well run hotel

An historical hotel. Vintage decor, very attractive, but also quite tired. The lobby is beautiful, so is the old ballroom turned into dining hall

Poland- stained bananas (overripe fruits) on the breakfast. I know it could be called eco but few days in the raw? :) - lacking vegetables for breakfast. Tomatoes would be nice :) - sitting guests not in the main breakfast space during the breakfast. The main space / room is so nice but all the guests (90% of them were pairs) could not sit there (I tried but I was moved to the second space). From a marketing point of view this isn't smart :) - no pool towels included (additionaly paid). Yeah you wrote somewhere that you are eco this way but still in 4* hotel it should be included in the room price - pool chairs are worked out and a bit dirty. Maybe because people are using their own towels which are often small or free towels from the room which are also small ;)
- historical hotel with a charm - location of the hotel on top of the historical "latomia" is excellent - walkable distance from the old town (island). Still it's around 2km but the old town it's really easy to go to - hike path nearby - pool is nice - stuff is friendly and helpful

United KingdomLocation was quite a distance from any of the sights we wanted to see. 30 minutes walk down a noisy road to get to Ortegia.
Unfortunately our room was facing the road. Although the hotel is a short distance from the road, we were disturbed by traffic noise at night. Balcony was very small, so not able to sit on it. Room and bathroom quite dark. The pool was an excellent size and generally quite quiet

United KingdomDining room shut for half the nights we stayed & was only ok on the night we ate there. Breakfast & the bar a bit chaotic if you coincided with one of the large tours groups who seem to use the hotel.
A fine old building in a good immediate setting. Easy access free parking, good outside pool, comfortable bedroom and some dedicated and helpful staff. Half an hour walk to the old town/€15 in a a taxi. Area around the hotel felt safe and it was pretty easy to get to the hotel from outside the city.

CanadaThe air conditioning unit was very loud and often woke us up in the middle of the night in a panic when it would go off. There was a nice little bar at the pool but no attendant so we couldn’t utilize it when we were at the pool.
The room and the hotel are beautiful. Breakfast buffet in the morning was amazing and other meals we had there through the restaurant were amazing as well. The hotel grounds and poolside are stunning.
