Since it was early in the travel season, there were few restaurants open during our stay.

Perfect sea view balconies in a relatively quiet town on Amafi coast. I was there pre season. For me it was a great place to just "be" and chill. Beautiful challenging hiking available, cute shops and great food of course.

Amazing stay! Everything is perfect. The hotel was absolutely gorgeous, we booked the double room and the view from the balcony was incredible. They delivered the breakfast to the room, we can enjoy it in the balcony. Staffs are very nice and friendly, location was great, easy reach to the beach by stairs or nice walk to the port. We will definitely book again if we come back.

The view was absolutely stunning…the staff were very kind and helpful.The little sitting areas off of the lobby were nice to have with also a perfect view to sit a bit and relax with an Aperol spritz of course.We hope to return again one day!

This really isn’t a negative, but there is price for that spectacular view. The town center and beaches are some 650 stairs below the hotel. If you think positively, consider it a workout do you can freely enjoy all the good food in Positano!

What a setting! Hotel Il Gabbiano sits on a cliffside high above the sea and cove below. The room is fairly simply appointed, but it has a light airy feel. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great. But the best thing about the room is the terrace where you can soak in the view, sip a beverage, and enjoy the breakfast delivered to your room. Lucia at the front desk was wonderful!

The beds were small and was a tight fit for an averaged sized person.

Greta location and excellent views. Our room was spacious with a big balcony with amazing views. Breakfast was delivered fresh to the room and balcony every morning. Staff were very helpful. The hotel is also on the main road into town so was easy to get to without the need to carry bags up and down stairs. Also being on the road, if you didn’t want to climb 20 stories of stairs from the centre of town, you can stroll up the sloped road. There was also a great wine and cheese shop across the road for those afternoons of watching the sunset with a nice bottle of wine.

At first glance the bedding looked a bit worn and dated. However it was very clean and comfortable and was a small disappointment compared to everything else which was updated and attractive. It would be an improvement if this would become a non-smoking hotel as when others smoked on their terraces in the morning while breakfast was served you could not avoid the smoke without returning to your room and closing your doors - missing out on the beautiful view.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious with MANY options and delivered to your room at an hour of your choosing - very much appreciated! The view from our room was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast each day on our terrace overlooking the harbor and waters surrounding Positano. The a/c worked well and the room darkening shutters were excellent for a great night's sleep. The FULLY tiled bathroom was a luxurious royal blue, extremely clean and well appointed. The location was perfect for us as we could walk to many restaurants and shops.

We had a balcony room with lovely views of the ocean and breakfast served to our room daily. The hotel is a family run operation and the staff could not have been more kind, accommodating or helpful. They even helped us get a porter for our ferry to Naples when we had to leave. We will definitely be coming back to this wonderful property again. Yes, rooms are small in Italy but if you are going to Positano just to sit in your room, you have a screw loose!

The staff was excellent. Martina and her mother were very helpful. It felt like everyone there cared about us. It was very clean. They would deliver our breakfast to our room where we would eat it right on the terrace enjoying a beautiful view.
