It was very small, next to McDonald. It doesn't look like a hotel but a store. The room is very tiny and bed not long enough for my 6 feet tall boy.

It claimed to be very close to the airport, which was why we chose it. So far away from downtown, and we sat on a bus for a long time and walk quite a distance after the bus. Really not convenient if you come from downtown.

It's right in front of the pier, which is one of the few areas where you can actually see the sea. There are a bunch of nice restaurants and shops nearby. The staff at the reception and breakfast area were all very pleasant to talk to. Good choices at breakfast. It's a little far from the train station but it's a few bus stops from Ostia Antica.

The only thing that I didn't like was the very strong air freshener that they use in the rooms. The smell was overpowering for an asthmatic like me. Otherwise, we didn't have other problems.

Hotel La Scalla's location is perfect. One gets to enjoy the beautiful sunset as the sea is a few steps away from the hotel. The reception desk is managed by a professional staff. They do not have a parking lot but one can find parking somehow along the street. We went in late November though which means that there were fewer tourists thus we managed to find parking. It could well be a different story in peak summer months.

One of our bathrooms flooded anytime someone showered because the door doesn't seal all the way.

Spent two nights, perfect location for a great price. Very responsive staff, 24/7 desk, check in/check out quickly, without a hitch. Daily cleaning, very clean, snow white and soft towels, nice bath accessories. Upon entering the room, there was a welcome bottle of water, a small snack, the room has a mini fridge, TV, heater, hair dryer. Sand beach - across the street, many cafes, shops, restaurants around. There is a city bus to the airport, once a hour (1.50 eur), the station is a 15-minute walk away. Definitely recommend!

In general all hotels and hostels are a bit worn down. In Italy ( alike in other countries in the south). But that counts for all forms of "rooms". Well maybe not 5 stars hotels. I have no idea. The price level in Rome is higher.

Nice motel near the airport, Ostia ruins, and train station. Beds are comfy and food choices around the neighborhood are good. I used this as a motel to decompress after a long international flight that arrived around midnight. 50 Euro cab from FCO and the Ostia train will take you into Rome when you're ready to continue your travels.

The room is a little small but it's great value for the price.

The breakfast is very good. Stephano at the front desk is very helpful. I was able to check in to get some rest before check in time. He has arranged a private transfer to the cruise port for me. The hotel is closed to a town square that have a lot of restaurants and pastries shops.

Room was smaller than expected and one window would not close. After booking the room, noticed much cheaper rates on another site and felt we paid double what the room was worth.

The Breakfast and service there was the most memorable part of our stay. Offered cappuccino and soya option for my dairy allergy. Room was clean, and bed comfortable. Reception offered transportation options and directions.

The shower was small.

Great location for walking to restaurants, a good view of the sea, and quiet neighborhood. We were able to walk to the train station the next morning and we liked that. The bathroom was a good size but the shower was the smallest we encountered.

It is obviously not a 5 star hotel, we got exactly what we expected. A few days before our arrival the "tassa di soggiorno" in Rome and Ostia was increased (from 4 to 6 euro per person, which in our opinion is outrageous, but not the hotel's fault), we did not know about it (we received an email from Booking after having already paid it, I guess the hotel updated the info after realizing it with us).

The hotel is exactly what you expect from a seaside hotel with basic service. The person who welcomed us at reception was extremely nice and gave us restaurant information which we followed and really appreciated. The location is good, in front of the beach and above all in front of one of the few access points to the beach. We booked here to be close to Fiumicino (15 minutes by taxi), the morning at the beach was an added bonus. If you need a taxi, order it in advance at reception, as there are not so many available in Ostia (we got lucky!). The breakfast was a nice surprise, despite it being in a small room it had quite a lot of choice.

The hotel offers an airport shuttle, but you have to book well in advance and it doesn't run early mornings. Therefore, no breakfast if one has an early flight.

Staff were very good and helpful. Property was right on the promenade and within walking distance of many restaurants. The room was small but clean. It was easy to get to from the airport by public transportation.
