Staff was having a lengthy conversation across floors early in the morning (read: shouting), The Wi-Fi did not seem to work when I was there. The interior could use an update.

I ended up stranded in Messina after several flight, luggage and public transport mishaps and spent a short night at the Mirage. I appreciated the phone was answered quickly and that my poor Italian was understood. The bedroom and bathroom were pleasantly sized, seemingly clean, and the bed was comfortable enough. Location is convenient - very close to the train/bus station.

Hotel looks like it didn't see any investment for 50 years. All furniture is old, my room was smelling very bad and there was mold in the bathroom. For this reason i had a window open during the night, but the street is very loud, so i couldn't sleep without earplugs. The host was speaking only italian, few hours later younger one came that spoke english. I could not connect to the wifi with my phone or laptop

There is no individual access to the building, but push button intercom.

Location is a short walk from the station. The room is a little musty, but clean. The bathroom is newer. The cleaning staff were co-operative. A nice morning coffee and pastry were issued. There was a communal refrigerator available. There were electrical PowerPoints near the bed, able to be used if you unplugged the lamps.

It os not easy to park around, and there's no parking in the hostel, so It could be difficult to park if you get by car. I also missed some more security, one day I arrived to my room and it was open, I didn't miss anything though

The breakfast was ok, there's a 24h reception but sometimes you had to call twice until the opened. It was well located, 2 minutes from the station and 10-15 from the cathedral, I think that was the BEST.

it looks like a forgotten place from the past. but not really vintage or sth. the host’s father didnt speak a word in english which is not thaaat important. met me with a poker face. didnt find my booking took him 15 mnts to find it and before that it was as if i am an intruder. the ppl there r chilling they dont really care. overall not so bad experience.

that its close to messina centrale. 5 mnts walk. hot water is working actually. wifi works pefect in the 2nd floor. the place is actually clean.

The receptionist there is an old man, who has been really rude with me. Maybe he is illiterate or something and his son "the owner" runs the place but one time he was not there. I booked to extend my stay through booking.com but he doesn't know anything how things work online. He also cannot speak any English. He was constantly knocking my door for checkout and after a while he also shouted few times and entered my room without permission when I opened the door. I was explaining to him and showing him my booking but that fool still kept persuading the same thing. Then I had to call booking.com to solve the issue through his son. This really ruined my day and I was really upset. Maybe it's a family business and the place was also really old, not well kept and there was a weird smell in the room. Dark corridors and old unclean rooms with few health hazards. Never going back.

It was an amazing stay. The bed was very comfortable and very clean. Right next to the beach.

The only thing is that when someone else on the floor shut their door, my door would also make a noise. But I put my suitcase against the door when I went to sleep and then I had no issues.

The owner was really nice and friendly. The hotel is nice considering the price and that it is in the center. I found everything clean. I think for one night it's perfect.

They control you during the breakfast, and they told us you can eat only one cornetto and one drink one coffee. Heating was disconnected for one night and no AC. You need to ask them to change towels and to clean everyday. Atmosphere there was not quiet. NEVER EVER BOOK THERE.

The shower in my room was very temperamental with the temperature.

Staff are super friendly, building is very large and with lots of things to entertain (musical instruments, games, sport), and the rooftop terrace has a large space for people and amazing views.

My ferry was on delay so I arrived late at night. Before I checked online that the hotel had a 24hour-reception. That was not the case. When I arrived the hotel was closed and the person on the phone said he had no room for me. I had to spend the night in a café.

Dirty sheets with large stain in all colors of the rainbow, some of the towels had crusted in yellow stuff on em all the other were dirty. Staff did not speak a word of English. Interesting side next to the receptionist the was a newspaper article about a local bomb diffusion. Could not sleep in such a dirty room. facilities looked so poor none of us three dared do take a step in the bathroom. Took the decision to skip breakfast thanks to another review.

You must have and present the saved/printed confirmation in Italian, otherwise staff no looks on internet and says that hotel fully booked. Wifi not stable in room, better in common places.

Great location in center, easy to find. Few minutes walk from station and passenger ferry port. Supermarkets and cafees near. Large room and bed, good toilet/shower, fridge, tv.

Owner pushed over and over to charge me for a second time. Which I denied. Room on level with an elevated traffic road. Interior was ramshackle pieces with very dubious electrical solutions. Shower water flowed slowly into the room. Clear leak. Worst of all ; serious attack of black fungus in the shower is a health hazard. I have a video of the room and me confronting the younger generation of it all. This establishment should NOT bee represented on booking.com I want a full refund.
