Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaIt was perfect.
Angela greeted us on arrival with all sorts of fantastic information about the island. The view is stunning, sunrises sublime, seeing Stromboli's orange puff like clockwork at night time is something to remember forever. Angela's breakfasts are great, her service is perfect.

Lovely simple room with a great view close to the pedestrian street in Santa Maria de Salina. Easy parking on the street for our scooter and stone beach nearby. The best part was the host Angela, such a lovely woman. She had a way of explaining things in Italian so I could understand even though I don’t speak the language:)

IrelandAngela is an amazing host - she greeted us on arrival, offered coffee, fresh juices and gave us recommendations on what to do in Salina, including renting a scooter (delivered at the hotel itself). The hotel is a gem, overlooking the sea and the islands of Vulcano, Panarea and Stromboli - if visibility is clear, you can also see the volcano of Stromboli steaming & bursting at night. The room was impeccably clean and the window overlooking the sea and the other islands made it so dreamy! Breakfast was freshly made every morning with home baked cakes, fresh croissants, bread and fruits. We will definitely be back & can’t recommend this place enough!

GermanyLovely hotel situated above the beach. The premises are tastefully furnished with beautiful places to sit and overlook the sea. The location of the hotel is excellent - not too far from the ferry and near the pedestrian area with shops an restaurants. The owner Angela was very friendly and helpful and gave us a lot of information about Salina, for example very good hiking maps. We had a great time and hope to come back one day.

AustraliaThe manager/owner Angela went out of her way to make us welcome, completely unfazed by our early arrival (and our very poor Italian), and gave us detailed and excellent local information, and very kindly organised breakfast for us despite our very early ferry on the day of departure. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were very comfortable and spacious, particularly the bathroom (unlike many European hotels!). Salina is a beautiful place, and this hotel is extremely charming- it is what small Italian hotels used to be like. If you come to Salina (and you should) Hotel Punta Barone should be your destination of choice.

United KingdomNothing at all.
The hotel has a fabulous situation on the shore, separated from the pebble beach only by a low-rise little house, and planned on multiple levels so all face the sea. It’s conveniently situated at the quiet end of the main street, so restaurants and bars are nearby. It’s a pleasant walk from the ferry (700 m along the seaside promenade). Our room was perfectly clean and comfortable and spacious. It looked out across the sea over roofs of those below which were being scrubbed and whitewashed for the summer. (In May, we were almost the only guests). The view was idyllic, taking in Lipari with Panarea and Stromboli in the distance, very quiet in the evening. We made ourselves wake up early each morning to watch the dawn coming and sunrise reflecting in the sea. The hotel is very much the personal establishment of the wonderful proprietor Angela, who ensures that it’s all excellent. She was very welcoming and hospitable, going out of her way to be helpful. And she provided an excellent buffet breakfast every morning, in an airy dining room with view over the sea. As long as one of the party can speak some Italian, this is the perfect place to stay.

United StatesThis was a wonderful place. We had a very nice room with a little balcony and a panoramic view of the sea, Stromboli and Panarea. It was immaculate. There are several terraces. You can always find sun or shade. The delicious breakfast was served in a room with a view in all directions. The hotel has a great location on the edge of town. Completely quiet except for the sounds of the sea but an easy 10 minute walk along the water from the ferry. The host was very friendly and helpful. We wish we could have stayed longer.

GermanyTraveling around Sicily we got used to have a buffet breakfast with self service. In Punta Barone the owner was staying next to buffet and was giving us what we wanted. We felt a bit limited and not that comfortable. But take note that it could be a hygiene corona concept.
The owner is a very friendly person. Although our very poor Italian we were using all possible resources to communicate and it worked! The room was spacious and cleaned, and the bed was very comfortable. We got a room with an amazing view on two other island stromboli and panaera and could watch the small Vulcan eruptions at night. The breakfast was tasty, there were som elocal products as well as fruits that were growing in the garden (tasty mango). We liked the place.

SwitzerlandPunta Barone is a fantastic hotel, we loved our room with a beautiful view on Stromboli and Panarea. We woke up in the morning to see the sunrise in front of our window and in the evening we sat down on the long chairs on the terrace to feel the breeze. Angela (the owner) is lovely and gave us all info, she was there all the time we need it. We really love this place!

United StatesThe Wi-Fi in our room measured .25 MB per second which is dramatically slow to almost nonexistent. The mattresses were also not super comfortable, but that is somewhat, we have found in a lot of places Overall we would still recommend a stay here for the cleanliness, the locations and the view
The location of the property is great. It is literally at the top end of what is really the main street in town. It is about a 12 to 15 minute walk from the port. Check-in was very nice, but they do not speak English at all. The room was very clean and very nice, although the bed was not super comfortable and had two twin mattresses put together, so you have the issue of the split down the middle. The views from the lower deck, and the upper deck are both extremely nice for sunrise and evening time we could watch Trimboli Volcano us. The breakfast area is also super clean and all of the foods that were amazing. As well as they made coffee or tea to order each morning. Definitely a plus on our trip for breakfast. The rooms have air-conditioning which is a plus. .
