    We stayed in La Mandola two years ago when it still belonged to another hotel chain and we loved it. We planned to go again last summer but were surprised to find out it was closed for the season. When it reopened this summer we couldn't believe our luck. However, we were quite disappointed with the changes which the new [mis]management brought. First of all, we booked a 'Deluxe double room with sea view' and booking.com listed a BALCONY as one of the features of this room. However, when we entered the room, we didn't have the balcony. The receptionist claimed that what was 'deluxe' about this room was the sea view. That is obviously not true, since deluxe room is a different category and of course more expensive than the regular double room with sea view. So we paid for the room with the balcony which we didn't have!! The general problem is the mismanaged and inexperienced staff. It reflects everywhere - during breakfast: each morning we enter the breakfast room and EVERYTHING is missing - first of all a clean table to sit by, then plates, cutlery, bread, water, ham, cheese, croissants and so on. The guest has to ASK the staff for every single thing 'please can i have a knife, please can i have some bread....' in the end I get fed up with myself having so many demands! Moreover, the idea that the guests must set up their own table is not suitable for a 4* hotel. At the reception - we ask the staff to book us a table for dinner in a restaurant in the harbour [for which we DO know that reservation is needed] but they convince us that is not needed at all [it was]. After we checked out and paid the bill for the whole stay, we realised we were charged 6.5 euros for the use of minibar, which we didn't use. Housekeeping - we had to ASK for fresh towels and they were changed just once during 7 days!! Toiletries - two soaps and two small shampoos were in the bathroom when we arrived and we never got any more during the whole stay.

    Capraia is beautiful, and La Mandola holds the best position in the island. The platform beach and the swimming pool which are both at disposal to La Mandola guests are great. The beach and the swimming pool bagnini are great.

    The location is amazing! The entire facility was immaculately clean and comfortable! The staff was very accommodating!

    Breakfast good but not so much choice in salty food (no bacon f.e.) No stable internet connection.

    Room was great, staff really friendly, swimming pool, great view.

    No coffee in the room and the restaurant was closed.

    The entire staff was attentive to our needs and extremely helpful.
