Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Good Location in the Old Town, nice property as located in the old Palace, but lot of stairs to go up and down so you need to travel with limited luggage

BelgiumThe bathroom was attractive to look at but the old-fashioned shower in the bath did not work as well as it should have done. Breakfast on the balcony was very pleasant, but the coffee was tepid and bitter and the pastries were not particularly tasty.
This is a strikingly attractive hotel in the centre of Gubbio with several well kept and attractive gardens at different levels. The view from our balcony was magnificent and the room itself was very well furnished. The staff were without exception helpful and efficient.

United States of AmericaThere are a lot of stairs to reach the check-in from the street level. From there, an elevator was available. Be prepared for the bell tower in the piazza to chime every 15 mins. ;) Driving in Gubbio is not for the faint of heart! Free parking was available, but was a bit of a walk to reach.
One of a kind property, lovely courtyards, great view. Hard working staff, and a good breakfast included. I had a back flare up on the date of our planned departure, and was unable to drive. The staff were able to extend our stay another night. The location was great!

Location was perfect - especially for seeing the palio in piazza outside. Breakfast was good. Bedroom (Medici Suite) was large with beautiful garden just outside window.

IrelandIf you arrive by car it’s tricky to find if you trust Google maps. You need to carefully read the instructions beforehand.
Amazing location, right beside the Palazzo Sri Consoli in Gubbio with its stunning views. Staff are wonderful; friendly and helpful, especially Olga who served us apperitivi on the squre, even moving the chairs and table into the sun. The room was spotlessly clean and excellent value for money. Really fabulous stay.

United KingdomIt would have been lovely to have had breakfast in the courtyard garden, but this wasn't straightforward to arrange.
The location and the Relais building itself are beyond wonderful. The courtyard and garden at the hotel are beautiful, peaceful spots - the 'giardino pensile' emphasises the hotel's origins as part of the ducal palace; the decor is sympathetic and the staff warm and welcoming.

IrelandThis is an issue common to all of the medieval hill towns, and the difficulty will be shared by every hotel in Gubbio, but driving to the hotel is very unnerving. Medieval streets and modern cars will never be happy companions, but the problem was the most acute I've seen in Gubbio. Many towns impose severe parking and access restrictions, but every street in medieval Gubbio is choked with parked cars. A smaller car will help but some turns are incredibly tight. The hotel manage this as best they can, so you make your way to the Piazza outside and drop off bags. They then record your number plate and direct you to a small multilevel car park near the funicular. It isn't a massive hike back to the hotel, so maybe being directed to the car park first might suit some better. I think a street closure made our detour to the hotel trickier, and google maps should favour a roomier indirect route to avoid some serious squeezes. The location is great, but the catch is getting there.
Gubbio is almost L shaped because outskirts quickly give way to streets that seem almost vertical. With that in mind, Relais Ducale is almost at the apex of that L right on the Piazza Grande, so could not be more convenient for the sights. The hotel is a happy marriage of historical character and modern convenience, and was a bargain at the price we paid. It's a hotel rather than a guesthouse, so perks like a night porter and room service are available. It also incorporates a cafe so is convenient for a quick lunch. A fine buffet breakfast with proper coffee also features. The rooms was palazzo style rather than modern minimalist and a generous size. Some others with exposed stone might have more character, but maybe with a strange layout. There is also a roof terrace and internal garden if you want to lounge around.
