The Bolongaro restaurant next door is good and convenient, but a way of getting there under cover would be good when it's raining. The San Gottardo and Belvedere hotels are joined together with one reception, so you have to go via small steps and a passageway to get from one to the other. Not a problem for us, but could be for anyone with mobility issues.

Located right next to the ferry terminal. We arrived by train to Stresa then took the ferry to Verbania, and it was great having the hotel right there. Great staff though not all as fluent in English. The person on duty when we arrived was really helpful, with advice on what to see and when, so we followed his advice and walked round the peninsula to the botanic garden for the afternoon (well worth seeing). Our room was comfortable with a view of the lake across to Stresa. The maitre d' in the breakfast room was especially courteous and efficient. Whenever we needed anything in the hotel, the staff were quick to respond.

The day we arrived there was a market in the street outside the hotel and the road was closed - I wish the hotel had informed us of this in advance.

Staff on the front desk were very friendly and helpful. The location is amazing, very central. The breakfast options were extensive and varied. Parking was cheaper with the hotel's discount and available right opposite the hotel in the public spaces. Walking distance to the local bars and restaurants and right in front of the ferry terminal.

Room was very warm and air conditioning either did not work or was hard to operate and we didn’t figure it out.

Across from the water and surrounded by restaurants and cafes. Check in with Paolo was really easy, he was welcoming and very helpful. Hotel has secure free parking nearby. Breakfast was excellent and special recognition to Michel. To the left of the hotel, about two blocks is an excellent gin bar where we also had a really good chocolate torte dessert.

Everything was great.

We had a very enjoyable stay in the very center of Torino. Room was very comfortable and quiet. Facilities were very good. Excellent breakfast. All in all, a great value for price.

Parking situation is quite difficult close to the hotel. A hotel parking is about 500m walking distance from the hotel. With luggage quite a distance.

Hotel is located at a nice promenade with options to have a nice dinner outside along the street. Breakfast had been quite good - had much less in Italy already.

The room was spacious, clean and had good air conditioning. It had a lovely view of the lake, which you could enjoy from the balcony. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful - they helped organise taxis from and to Verbania Station at short notice. Breakfast included coffee and a variety of buffet items. We at dinner at the hotel on our first night. It was very good and the restaurant team were very pleasant. Location for the hotel is ideal for cafes, restaurants and shops, as well as access to the ferry and beaches. Overall, an excellent stay.

The coordination between booking.com and the hotel seemed to be a bit weird. When we came in first, the staff didn't find our reservation, only after a while. Good WiFi was only in the lobby. not in our room.

The Hotel is beautiful, the staff friendly, rooms are spacious, nice bathroom. The service is good. The location of the hotel is excellent, only a few meters from the Lago Maggiore and beautiful promenade with restaurants and coffee shops.

Truly was perfect, if we were being picky it would have been nice to have a pool or outside garden space to use in the hot summers

We had the best time for my mums surprise 60th birthday. The location couldn’t be better, it is in the centre of everything and opposite the ferry. The staff were all very attentive and kind, plus the breakfast was incredible with lots of variety all delicious. If you are looking for an affordable, classical Italian and beautiful hotel then Hotel San Gottardo is the one for you, we hope to come back next year!

We thought that the coffee at breakfast is awful , with large bubble froth, tastes like instant coffee- not our expectation / green blinds infront of the windows (2 of 3 ) get stuck and are difficult to open - everything else though was high quality and worked fine

very nice hotel and excellent front desk staff - central location with beautiful lake view - amazingly large room for just 16 m2 - public parking right infront of the hotel -cosy clean and comfortable room ( first floor lake side ) - nice little balcony for enjoying a summer evening / hotel restaurant food was excellent, fast serving ( entrecote tender like filet ) - very attentative and helpful staff - the waitress immediately noticed that my wife was not feeling well and offered help - very nice selection of dishes at reasonable prices

We had a 2nd floor room with a long balcony overlooking the lake. Our view was utterly stunning. The hotel was opposite the Pallanza boat stop so perfect for visiting the Islands and Stresa. The restaurant was lovely, however, being very close to the Piazza there were many restaurants and trattorias in a few minutes walk. Wonderful promenade to walk along in the evenings.
