Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Perfect location, just across the station and walking distance to Matsumoto Castle. The room had a decent size (we were traveling light so I couldn't tell how well we would've managed with suitcases). There is microwave for guest use in a common area which was very convenient. Staff friendly and helpful.

This is my first time to Matsumoto. The hotel is just right next to Matsumoto station. It is very convenient. The room is just like typical Japanese business hotel, but the stuff are very thoughtful and caring. When I did laundry, I forget to ask for keys to open the washing machine door, the person in charge personally helped me to reset the machine, even retrieved the coins so that I could restart the new cycle. I especially enjoyed the free bicycle rental. You can basically explore the city by riding bicycle , it took me only less than 10 min to reach Matsumoto Castle. The castle view, coupled with sakura, with snow peak mountain at back drop, was amazing.... The hotel is also convenient to take buses, which are right in front of station . I took the bus to Asama onsen, it was amazing......

There wasn't a comb. Usually, the other hotels place it and other amenities around the reception area, but I couldn't find any in such an area or in the room.
The hotel is only a 2-3 minute walk from Matsumoto Station. There are many convenience stores and restaurants in the area. The breakfast was nice and the staff was kind.

The bed was really hard and uncomfortable. The pillows were bad too. I set the room to not disturb. Usually they leave you fresh towels in a bag outside the room. There was only one set of new towels, but we were two guests. The writing on the Air Con panel was all gone so I didn't know which way to turn it.
Super cheap, close to the station. Forgot something in the room and then when I came later to ask about it they immediately knew and had it ready for me. I booked smoking room even though I don't smoke because it was the last room available... but the room had an air freshener that made it bearable. The body soap smelled really nice.

It would have been great to get some information about the amenities and availability of the rental bikes when I checked in.
Very conveniently location outside of Matsumoto station, surrounded by good places to eat and shop. The free rental bikes are great for exploring the town and going to Mastumoto Castle, just make sure you ask for them at the front desk.

The location was incredible, it was so close to the station, literally less than 5min walk away. There were also many food options available less than 5min away. Matsumoto was wonderful, I wanted to stay longer.

Facilities, although functional, rather ‘tired’ compared to other similarly priced hotels.
Location. Walking distance to JR station and airport bus service. Also within a 20 minute walk to castle. A special mention to Front desk for their help with particularly to Yamanoto for her cheerful assistance. Also to the kitchen staff for their lovely breakfasts.

The bed wasn't very comfortable, and the toilet wasn't as clean as it should be.
Right next to the station, and within walking distance to every important site, as well as restaurants. Staff was very kind.

Laundry machine is quite expensive. 500 yen for normal load with dryer. They provide detergent though

The room had cigarette smell as we not able to book non-smoking room. The room is a bit small.
Location is extremely good with many restaurants and malls nearby. 7/11 next door and JR station is across the road. Staff is very helpful and can speak English well. Price is also good when we booked.

Plugs in the bedroom were positioned weirdly making it hard to charge my phone and staff didn’t know any English (not necessarily a bad thing).
Very nice and good for your money as it was nice to have my own bed and bathroom, with pretty good wifi and room quality.
