Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

7 to 10 minutes walk to the nearest laundry shop. About 20 to 30 minutes walk to the market and shops
Location is ok, near in restaurants, there is Starbucks in the entrance of the hotel, near the train stations.

The size of the bathroom is too small. The city tax has to be paid in cash only
The double room for single use, I had on the last night, was much more comfortable as compared to the small single room I had at the beginning of my stay, although the bathroom was still small in space, but equipped with everything needed, The breakfast is very good, with a large variety of selections, both in local and international cuisine, also cooked. The location is excellent , since the most interesting places are at walk distance or achievable by subway. The asian restaurant on second floor is excellent. The staff is very gentle

We got the Japanese style room and it was a little dim. Cushion on the chair was dirty with stains. Corners of the bathroom was filled with hair even after cleaning.
Location is fantastic. Right above station, with a lift like one block away. Very convenient for family like us with pram and luggages. Convenient store is just around the corner. Starbucks is right at the hotel lobby.

The room temperature in my room is so warm that I have to wake up several times at night, and unfortunately, the temperature cannot be adjusted manually.
The location is absolutely perfect—it's close to the metro, and shopping sites are within walking distance. Additionally, the price represents a great deal.

A little dated compared to other hotels. A bit of mould in the bathroom.
Great location, easily accessible from metro. Staff were all very friendly. Very good selection of breakfast buffet items.

The hotel feels a bit dated and would welcome a good refurbishment.
Excellent Location, centrally located next to a subway stop and very close to bus stops which take you all over Kyoto and its main attractions. Helpful staff. Spacious rooms.

Room can get too hot since the aircon is centralized so no way to control the temp. Had to open the window to let some air in. Wifi keeps disconnecting.
Staff were all nice. Location is pretty close to shops and resto but enough to be on the quietier side. Room is good enough with 1 person.

Hope the wifi can be improve, probably poor connection. The room is hot during winter and the staff helps to open the window so that the air circulation helps room become colder.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is pretty clean and facility is enough for me.

The hotel needs some renovation/furniture upgrade and to have more bigger rooms.
Didn't eat in the hotel. There are several eating places nearby. Hotel is OK though a bit old fashioned and dated. Considering the high hotel prices in Kyoto, price at this hotel is rather reasonable. It's a 6-8 minute walk to the Nishiki Market so it's close but not really that close. It's close to the Karasuma train station and Kyoto subway, though.

- Staff were a bit unaware when it came to restaurant recommendations in specific locations around the area. - Communication from staff to guests can be improved. One staff was a bit direct in an uncomfortable way when we were talking. - Sound-proofing needed as guests outside the room can be noisy. - Hotel Wi-Fi was below average.
- Room amenities were beyond my expectations. - Location was strategic. It was close to the station and convenient stores, especially coming back after a tiring day. - Room was clean and spacious for a solo traveller.
