Check-in counter is on level 2 where there is no lifts to get to. Lifts are only available from level 2 to get to your floor you're staying in.

The staff were very warm and welcoming. The location of the hostel was only a few minutes walk from the JR Takayama station. We stayed in the Japanese-style room with futon. The futon was very warm for the chilly nights we had during our stay. Use of the shared kitchen and fridge was also kept neat and tidy by other guests as well. The balcony on the top level also has a very nice view of the mountains.

COMFY BEDS 🙌 (unusual in Japan in my experience so far, but my back and hips are recovered after 3 nights here!) So so clean. The privacy of a capsule with a curtain and cosy bed 'compartment', but a lovely lovely shared space where I met lots of people. Fab kitchen facilities. Great location (5 mins walk from train and bus station, right in the town). Good bathroom facilities.

For some people the atmosphere at the hostel might be to calm. Everybody did their own stuff and it was very quite there.

The hostel was super cosy and very clean. We felt comfortable. They have a big kitchen were you can find all you need. The staff was super friendly and helped us with all our questions. They will also give you good recommendations what to do. Thanks for the great stay!

The pillow is really flat (for me). We had the double bunk bed room with private bathroom and the room is a little small for us (but typical of Japanese hostel/hotel).

The location is good, about 3-5min walk to the Takayama train station. The kitchen and lounge area are open 24/7. You can use the laundry facilities (washing and drying) for 500 yen each time. There is a small elevator to help bring the luggages up to your floor (which can be a god-send) but the reception is at level 2 so you will still need to carry the luggages up one level first. Staff are friendly and most of the facilities are well thought of.

There is no bidet in the toilet :( The bathroom is quite small for a 4-person room.

A beautiful Japanese style hotel, we got the Japanese room! It's definitely one of the best experience we had in Japan! Staff was amazing, super friendly, spoke english very well. The common area was great to hangout at, and the kitchen is spacious and well-equipped. There's washer and dryer if you need to wash your clothes. The rooftop was great, we went up there twice a day. The room is nice and clean, everything works perfectly.

The staff are extremely welcoming and helpful. Common area is very clean and comfortable, kitchen is well stocked and free (good) coffee in the morning is a definite bonus. Room (private) is clean and well proportioned with a decent bathroom.

The fact that the reception and lounge area was on the first floor, we had to carry our heavy luggage up the stairs. You only have access to the lift from first floor onwards.

We booked a double private room with private bathroom. The room was very spacious and everything was in good condition. The person attending to us was very friendly and provided us with good information to go about the town. We particularly love that we could go to the roof to enjoy the weather and see the mountains from far away during a clear day. It was really fun to have a beer out in the cold on the roof too. They provided a lot of amenities that made a budget stay really convenient. They even have shoe dryer and bicycle rental. The location is only less than 10 min walk from Takayama Station and very near to Nohi Bus Center too where you join the bus tours to surrounding cities.

There were not many toilets or showers. If the place had been fully booked that might have been a problem.

The beds were really comfortable. I also enjoyed the capsule style rooms. It felt quite private with the curtain closed. After a chilly day outside, the hostel itself was an all around cozy place to come back to. It also had a really convenient location near the station, a convenience store, and some restaurants.
