Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ChinaThe rooftop bar could have a better structure. Right now the bartender's area is by the window and the customers have to sit a bit far. Plus the lighting is a bit too much, so all I can see is the lights reflection on the window, and the bartender and alcohol bottles right in front of me, can't really enjoy the view outside...
Super close to the JR train station. Check-out time is 11am, which is later than most of the hotels in Hokkaido.

SingaporeRegretted not staying one more night in Hakodate and in this nice and well-located hotel.
The room was spacious and nicely decorated. All the amenities were complete. The breakfast was a small but good selection, there were some nice sashimi served and east and west dishes were all tasty. The staff was also helpful and efficient all the time, providing a handy local map and giving good directions in English, they were helpful in arranging a luggage forwarding service for us too.

New ZealandThe rooms were a little small but normal by Japanese business hotel standards. Any luggage larger than airplane cabin bags would be a squeeze. But for our purposes being out and about the whole day, and only coming back primarily to sleep, its adequate.
The runs are clean and the staff are friendly. The location is great being near the Hakodate Station being just across the road from the hotel. The bus station and airport shuttle is also just across the road from the hotel. Its in close proximity to the morning market with fresh seafood from the morning. Its just down the road from the major historical sites of hakodate - and within a bus ride to the Mt Hakodate Ropeway (Cable Car), the historical orthodox and RC churches and temples plus old Government buildings and the Motomachi Park, Kanebori Red Brick warehouses. Reaching Onuma Lake by train is a breeze as is getting to goryokaky castle.

TaiwanThe window in our room was not fully sealed due to a faulty window lock, so the soundproofing was not great (noise of wind howling outside).
Good view of the harbor and the mountains in the distance from our high floor. Just a stone's throw away from the morning market.

SingaporeIn the hotel, nothing I didn't like, except that I got a room on the 5th floor which looked out on a roof, so not the best view. The surrounding area, somewhat to my surprise - it been very central and all - didn't have many restaurants, but then Hakodate is not a large city. A bit of walking was needed to get dinner.
The hotel looks very new. It was just 100 metres and across the street from the JR railway station. There are elevators to rooms. The room was on a small side, but fine for one person. There was a mini-fridge, a safe and kettle. Wifi was good. Lighting was good. There was a proper desk with a desk lamp. Enough power points. Temperature was fine in the room, though I didn't see any way to adjust temperature if it had not been fine. The bathroom fixtures were in good working order (looked new too). Water pressure was good, hot water came through quickly and drainage was good. Towels were dry and fluffy. There is a self-service laundry in the hotel but I did not use it. The breakfast range was surprisingly large, with a mix of japanese and western items. There was an egg counter, and you could order your eggs the way you want them. Right around the corner from the hotel was a tram stop, and so, getting around Hakodate city was also easy.

ThailandThe room size is typical of business hotels. Just enough room for one person to open their luggage. It might be a tight squeeze with 2 people with a lot of luggage. The room I was assigned had small cracks in the wash basin and small spots of peeling paint in the bathroom. I think the hotel needs to pay attention to these issues - it gives a bad impression of the maintenance of the hotel.
This is a good quality Japanese business hotel. The location is opposite the bus and train station - just cross the road in 5 minutes. The morning market is just around the corner from the hotel. The lounge / business centre next to the reception is very comfortable. There is complementary coffee and soup available for guests to use for free at certain times of day. There are good quality toiletries (Shick razor etc) in the room and a selection of teas and other ammenties available in the reception.
