눉the tempura smell filled the stairs and the corridor
눇extremely clean room and nice deco. it goes with simple but modern design. the bedding is clean. the hotel though is small but offers very fine dining. the room size is big (much better than hotel brands which we stayed during our 1 wk holiday in japan) and it gives good air conditioning the owner ms. mizuhasou is kind and helpful. she can speak good english. our dinner has over 10 courses and the lady explained each dish to us when she brought it to our table. breakfast has 2 options, either the japanese or western. again there are over 10 different courses. coffee, cake, food etc are excellent. i can't find any reason to complain.

눉As this was our first time visiting Japan there wasn't any bad experiences it was just all a big adventure and a learning experience for next time.
눇Went with my girlfriend for a quick getaway. The location of the hotel is opposite the aquarium and is peaceful as it's away from the town center. But that is only a 15 minute walk away. Plus the walk you get to walk past the shrines, and along the waterfront and through the town center which is nice especially at night. We went for the Japanese style breakfast which we highly recommend! There is a western option but why come to japan if you choose that. The breakfast felt like a 7 course meal but it kept us two going till dinner so no need for lunch which helped on spending. The rooms are spacious and the futons were so comfortable. You would just pass out and it would keep you warm but doesn't bake you at the same time. The staff there and the owner are super friendly and helpful. The owner let us use the bathrooms after it closed (10pm) as we had a delayed flight and got to the hotel very late so they are very accommodating and understanding. If you make an effort to learn Japanese customs and basic Japanese it does help. Which we found out during our stay and when we were out. Please note something for fellow travelers: 1.If you want dinner at the hotel you need to tell the owner in the morning so she can inform the chef. As dinner is made to order but if you forget or miss dinner, there is a local pub in the town center which opens till 11pm. 2. When you get on the ferry to the island the last ferry is at 22.14pm. Once that ship has sailed there is no way on getting to the island and you have to find a hotel to sleep in. 3. The owner locks the front door at 10pm. This corresponds to the last ferry time and around this time pretty much the whole island has closed down as the place survives basically on tourism . (Apart from the pub as that is open till 11pm) To conclude we would highly recommend this ryokan if you want a more homey feel and closer to Japanese culture feeling than just an ordinary hotel. We will definitely be coming back next...
