Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Hong KongNothing.
The Lodge owner provided a very good service and show sincere hospitality. Every morning she drove me to the ski centre. She also drove me b@ack to her Lodge at end of my snowboarding. One thing I must say the dinners they provide is really good. You should try when you stay there. I really enjoyed staying there.

Chinadon’t feel anywhere need to be improved and everything exceeded my expectations.
If the highest score is 10 I would rank Pension Mutti 9.9 — as no one would be 100% perfect :) I checked in at Pension Mutti a week ago and stayed for 3 nights, I would say Kayoko, the hostess and her entire family, were one of the most kind families I have ever met before. I didn’t book dinner when I made the reservation from Beijing, because I was thinking maybe I could try different restaurants but I was totally wrong, as the Appi Kogen skiing area is more of countryside without restaurants or shops in city area. But Kayoko figured out to get me the dinner arrangement eventually which I appreciated soooo much. And when I saw and tasted the breakfast and dinner provided, I was shocked as at this price, in Beijing, it won’t be cheaper than 30usd per meal - in New York it would cost +80usd or higher. The taste and the presentation of the meals were just at fine dining level no mention the ingredient were all from local and fresh. Kayoko also drove me ( and other travelers) to the ski resort ever morning and picked us up in the afternoon, and drove me to the train station in early morning. I can’t say anything unsatisfied me esp at the price charged to me, and I appreciated her and her family very much. I definitely have recommended Pension Mutti to my friends and I expect to visit the cozy place again.

MalaysiaNothing. Everything was to our liking.
Kayoko-san was the perfect host. She was informative, friendly and kind. She sent and picked us from the ski slopes every day. Kayoko tried very hard to get our next hotel in Hachimantai to pick us since the shuttle no longer operated after January. She even offered to drive us there herself but we couldn't trouble her that way. She did finally send us to the APPI Kogen train station. Her food was excellent and very generous. Dinner every night was different, elaborate and oishii! Her pension was decorated with dried local flowers which added to the charming countryside ambience. For a private pension, her indoor and outdoor onsen was fantastic. We particularly loved the outdoor onsen. Pension Mutti is very conveniently located near the APPI Kogen slopes. We highly recommend it.

JapanEverything is perfect, nothing to complain. But if I have to be picky, the steak for the dinner was a bit raw for someone who wanted a perfect medium rare.
Kayoko was so friendly and warmhearted. I arrived a bit early for checking in, so she drove me to the ski resort for ski and also gave me discount ticket, borrowed me ski wear so that I didn’t need to rent myself. She also gave me loads of help after I broke my leg when skiing… The dinner and the breakfast was shockingly delicate with generous amount. Looking forward to meet you again after I got recovered!

United StatesWe loved this place! We were able to bring our dog, and he also loved it! We got discounted lift tickets from the hotel, and it was like a 3 minute drive to Appi. Breakfast was great both mornings, and it was all made from locally sourced items. We paid a small fee to include dinner, which was also great. It was so much food, and so yummy! The onsen was clean and relaxing. The owners were also very friendly and gave us a lot of advice on things to do in the area!

United StatesNothing. A flawless experience.
Kayoko is incredible. I've never experienced better hospitality. She took care to ensure every moment of my brief visit was smooth and enjoyable. The inn is amazing. - simple, but full of character. You can tell the care and time that is put into their craft. The food is spectacular and features mostly local ingredients. If you told me I was in a Tokyo restaurant and had to pay $200 for the meal, I wouldn't have blinked. The value at this establishment is unmatched. I was already looking forward to my next opportunity to stay here before I left. Exceeded my expectations and more. I won't forget it.

Picturesque pension close to the Appi Kogen ski resort area. Great value. Kayoko-san was a very kind and hospitable host. With her husband they pick me up at the station and took me to the snow area - thank you! Looking forward to the next opportunity of visiting you and Appi Kogen!
