The house is a bit simple and dated. While really clean, there was a slight smell especially in the toilet. I think for 1 night it’s bearable.

Location!!! I absolutely loved the location in Ueno, close to airport express train, close to Nezu, Ueno park. Beautiful yukatas were a nice touch.

The walls were thin so we tried to be quiet but sometimes I am sure our neighbors heard us and we heard them.

Wonderful atmosphere a few steps from the most crowded parts of Tokyo. Still easy to reach other neighborhoods. A big plus was the easy access to Narita airport.

Locking the room door when leaving was a bit weird. Forgetting the key inside the room would have been a pain. Futon is unconfortable to me but it's me. Otherwise all good.

The rooms are basic but comfortable. The staircase from the ground floor to the bedrooms is quite steep. I had to be careful, particularly when going back down. We communicated with more basic English than I am used to when travelling abroad.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is small and quiet. It encourages relaxation and reflection. I needed advice on how to get to the University of Tokyo and received good directions. My hosts left a bowl of delicious strawberries in my room one day.

It’s a little inconvenient bringing luggage to/from stations. At Nezu Stn you have to lug it down stairs and to get to Ueno Stn you have to go uphill. I’d recommend taking a taxi to the stations when you need to move between accommodations.

Feels like you’re living like a local! Lovely quiet location and cozy vibe. Owner is very kind.

Great location very near shops restaurants and transport. The street was very quiet. There was a common fridge, sink, microwave and some crockery and cutlery for guests to use and our room had a kettle. The beds were futons on the floor and seating was on cushions exactly as expected. We had a room with a toilet and shower in and these were good with lots of hot water. We stayed 5 nights and had no problems with noise.

very quiet and super clean. room was super spacious and comfortable to stay in. staff were super friendly and helpful, they helped us to take care of our luggages before and after the check in and check out timings which really helped a lot. the room is super clean and the bed is comfortable as there is double layers for the futon, as compared to other ryokans we stayed in in japan. the toilet is clean and comfortable and the heater for the room is very good. although the walls are thin and you can hear sounds from your neighbours like footsteps, i think it is very acceptable for ryokans. it did not bother me too much. i would love to stay here again if i revisit tokyo. the neighbourhood is quiet and peaceful while still near enough to amenities. thank you so much!

Bring ear plugs if you're woken up easily. It's a shared occupancy so expect a bit of noise from other occupants.

Amazing location for city adventures. I stayed there for 7 days and found different spots to explore within walking distance every day. It is close to at least 5 train lines also. The host was very welcoming.

The owner was flexible and very professional when dealing with our requests. Close to Ueno Zoo and Akihabara. Transportation was easily accessible all around. We had quite a number of options when it came to selection of food.

That I had to leave! I would have loved to have spent longer in this place to learn more about the area and to explore more of the hidden gems.

You can feel like the owners take pride in their work and have done so for many years. Their experience and expertise were seen in all the details around the entire hotel.
