Roy at the dinner serve us with great hospitality and is very professional. Compliment should be given to Roy. Location is walkable distance to the main shopping street.

The exhaust fan in the living room was quite loud when turned on. I wasn't sure if we were meant to keep it on or not as it had "24 hours" marked on the switch. In hindsight, I could have called reception and found out but would be great if they can explain this in the informational booklet.

The location was great. It's a short walk from the main shopping areas, which is bit away from the train station. The onsens were great. We have one inside the house and another one on the outhouse (Yamabuki). We could adjust the water temperature so our daughter who was afraid of really hot water could enjoy the bath as well. All the staff were very attentive and polite and spoke English well. The Japanese gardens surrounding all the rooms were very beautiful. The hotel pays for the taxis from and to the Yufuin train station as well, which was thoughtful. We had the breakfast option which was delicious (alternate between Western and Japanese each day). I suggest the dining option as well as there aren't any restaurants open for dinner within a 15 minute walk (the only option was walk further to the train station or buy a bento box from the convenience store). It was raining for most of our stay and we couldn't be in a better hotel to spend inside with our children.

Minor issue- There was only 1 small pillow per person. We were not used to sleeping with one pillow. However we did not bother to request for more.

Lovely property in a nice quiet area but yet near the centre of activities. Rooms were spacious and the private onsens( yes -2! One indoor and another outdoor) were great. Dinner in the private dining room was very good with free flow of drinks including alcohol. Would love to stay here again.

The staff was excellent. Feel homely because there were three staff members from Hong Kong and they were so friendly and helpful. The meals were exceptionally good. Presentation was excellent. Could tell that the Chef serves the food with his heart and talent. Really enjoyed our dinner and breakfast.

The location is about less than 10 minutes walk to the main sightseeing spots. There’s a free taxi to pick up and see you off at the station.

There are 2 hot springs in the room. It’s so wonderful you can soak in onsen anytime you want. Dinner is good with all you can drink.

Transportation to and from Fukuoka is a problem. Too crowded and difficult making reservations. Maybe booking through a travel agency may alleviate this problem. Just too crowded for a small town. Our ryokan was terrific. Stay there.

Staff was exceptional and service was great. Hotel paid for our taxi ride from the rail station. Breakfast and dinner was GREAT! Private onsen was terrific. We used it as much as possible during our short stay.

Reminds me of the villas in Bali, in terms of how the apartments were laid out away from the main reception building. Beautiful fireplace in the lobby. The staff were great. Loved our private breakfast dining area.

A really lovely inn. We had two private onsen, indoor and outdoor. We had full board breakfast and dinner every night. They put a lot of thought into the menu. The service and staff are very attentive. Book this if you have a chance.

The bathroom of my cottage (Ajisai 紫陽花) was separated out from the living room and everything so the layout created many trips back and forth for getting clothes and toiletry.

Each cottage has its own private onsen is excellent. Too bad I went during peak season and all the bigger cottages were fully booked. The cottage is just exactly the same as shown in the website photos. One nice touch was the free taxi ride. I did not know the ryokan covers the taxi fee so when the taxi driver refused to take my money I was wondering why.

Path to our room was quite uneven and had to be really careful especially at night. Room was a bit old.

Stayed in Yamaboushi, loved the outdoor and indoor onsens. There were 2 separate toilets and had free parking. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely meals using beautiful dinnerware, they were able to provide a different menu for the 2 nights we were there.

It is 15-20 minutes walk from station but it is impossible to book a taxi during 11:00-12:00 am to the station. Staff should have reminded all guests about this.
