The predetermined seating arrangement in the restaurant is quite inconvenient as one may wish to eat earlier inorder to sit under a fan or with a view. Consider free seating/first come first serve basis. The table was not cleared during my entire dinner and breakfast which made it hard to eat on a full table. But some staff are quite cold and unfriendly. esp at the reception and some waiters at dinner. A little friendliness goes a long way. Unfortunately the music from the pool bar/beach bar was loudly audible from the pool facing/garden facing rooms all afternoon well into the night. Making it difficult to have peace and quiet. Wish I was given a warning about this beforehand as should be the norm.

The room was spacious and clean. Modern bathroom with hot water. Great view and lovely balcony. The hotel is directly on the beach with easy access and pool directly accessible and not congested. The breakfast and dinner was diverse and the chefs serving the food were very pleasant and friendly. Majority of the staff were cordial and friendly. Special thanks to Jacinta at reception and the towel handler/lifeguard who were very kind. Overall the stay was pleasant and facilities surprisingly great.

The room had no fridge - this should be a minimum requirement in rooms in Mombasa due to the heat. There were no courtesy sandals in the room.

Breakfast was good, a wide variety of choices to eat from, not a wide variety of juices though but I suspect it is because they were doing fruit of the season for them. Staff during breakfast were alert and quick to serve

Unfortunately, whilst we had a view of the sea, it is a public beach and locals stand right at the hotel exit on to the beach waiting for tourists. You are then hassled during your entire time on the beach about excursions or them just wanting to show you something in return for money tips. This ruined our entire week as we felt we couldn't go onto the beach. They could see right up at our balcony which gave us no privacy. The Internet stopped working for two days and the TV reception failed during the last two days.

The room was nicely laid out with a large bed and decent en suite. The balcony was a nice size with a view of the sea. Food was varied every night and the waiter that attended our table (Bushman) was very friendly and attentive. The hotel staff were very helpful and nothing was too much for them

They had not prepared for us by the time we arrived, they had not prepared the extra bed as per our booking request. Some of the reception staff are not friendly to guests especially when dealing with common queries. They did not explain how the equipment in our room works, as a result the older shower equipment scalded one of us. The hotel is also not child-friendly: we asked for a bed for a 4-year old child and they brought an infant cot with rusty nails sticking out of the wood. We were not happy with the dinner time hours. Dinner should start at 6pm rather than 7.30pm as part of a healthy lifestyle. The television service is generally poor.

The kitchen, serving and waiting staff at the Safina Restaurant are super courteous and helpful. The food is great in terms of freshness, presentation, quality, variety and taste. The kitchen staff prepared mashed food for our little gal at no extra cost to us. The restaurant and delux rooms are generally clean and comfortable but the standard rooms have some outdated equipment. Prepare to encounter some wildlife while eating: some pesky colobus monkeys and crows.

The location of our rooms was not where I would have chosen, it was tucked away far from the pool bar area and beach side.

I always make the effort for suggestions. A coffee machine would be better in a central location like the pool bar.
