While it might appear a bit pricy for a room with shared bathroom, it's worth it! Best possible location, one entry to the street and the other to the beach, with shaded outside sitting area directly at the beach. Well maintained old house with lovely paintings and writings of former guests on the walls. Very friendly and helpful staff, appreciated very much to get free tea at all times during the day.

The beach is dirty and full of trash. But that is not the fault of the staff. It is a general problem in this area, including Uppuveli and Nilaveli beach.

Best location in Trinco, with the backdoor onto the beach. Enjoy the breakfast (optional) watching the fishermen pulling in their catch and observe the sunrise. The rooms are simple, however with A/C and all you need. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Good value and fair price.

Beach front small hotel and owner, Mr Kadir is a very helpful person. Lot of fishing boats can see in the morning and not a busy beach area. They haven't restaurant and but owner provided us cup of tea. If you are a beach lover, this is the place to be relax & spend more time. Value for the money.

Friendly place right on the beach so just a few metres to go for a swim. Helpful staff who can provide advice about local attractions. Various places to eat nearby but aimed at the locals which was fine for me but might not suit everyone. Quiet part of town so I slept well.

The location is so relaxing and so proximate to the water's edge. It feels like private beach with a whole cast of fisher folk who cast the nets each day for the freshest catch you could dream of.

The WiFi needs urgent improvement. It might work a bit in the rooms, but not on the terrace. Keeps disconnecting and doesn't reconnect automatically. There is no restaurant anymore, which is a real pity because there is only one indoor place to eat nearby, and not a single outdoor restaurant.

Excellent clean room. Friendly and helpful staff who speak English. Nice little sitting area out in the front. Superb location right on the prettiest part of the beach.

The hotel is generally a bit run down and could do with some renovations. The shared bathroom is particularly poorly designed, with the shower facing onto the toilet meaning the toilet is often wet. Wifi availability was intermittent.

The manager, Kathira, is a delight. He is so generous with his time and knowledge and really takes care of his guests. We had a few issues during our stay, including an infected jellyfish sting (not from Trincomalee) which Kathira treated and continually checked in on. We also had an issue with the air conditioning in our room - he moved me to another larger room with AC. The location of the property is incredible - it faces onto the most gorgeous, quiet beach in Trinco, where you can watch the fishermen bring their fish in at dawn and watch the sunrise over the water. The rest of the staff were also kind and helpful.

The rooms were not the best, quite small and dark, but at the price they were perfectly acceptable and Dykes Rest makes up for it in many other ways.

A really fantastic location with a very friendly, kind and helpful manager Mr Kadir. The breakfast and food were exceptional and for a fraction of the price you pay elsewhere. It was our 4 year olds birthday during the stay and he was given a cake. The beach on the doorstep is perfect for playing in with small children and you can snorkel nearby. Good AC in the room.

The location was perfect, right on the beach and minutes away from great snorkling spots. The staff was super helpful and the room was clean and comfortable. There were very nice dogs on the beach, they hanged out with us all day and even acted worried in a cute way when we went for a swim.

The location in the beach is great, especially for sunrise! The host is very friendly and welcoming and makes a great cup of coffee watching sunrise with you! I would definitely stay here if I come back.
