Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaI can't fault it.
The room was large and very comfortable. Big selection at the buffet and lots of gluten free curry options. Everything you need in a hotel is here. I stayed in a room by myself and felt very safe.

United Arab EmiratesThe food was subpar, especially for the money. No water is included, neither is coffee (very weird to say we had paid for breakfast). They didn’t have any chilled water- only warm. Staff were less than helpful. I don’t think it was because they were rude, they just genuinely didn’t know how to solve problems. My booking came up that 2 people were staying in two separate rooms but I’d booked two double rooms for 4 people total. I told them I was happy to pay more to amend the booking (I honestly didn’t know if it was my error or theirs). They wanted to charge me an extra 88$ but the cost to add two people to the booking through booking.com was 17$ per person. I explained this and that I wouldn’t be paying more than what the website states. 1 hour later I was still in reception, with no hotel room. Eventually, I asked us to resolve the rest of the bill on check out because I needed to get a shower and food. The next day, none of them had communicated the issue. Classic case of the blind leading the blind. If you’re looking for a base between safaris, it’s fine. Not for longer than 1 night.
The hotel is lovely and does the job, the rooms are the nicest part of the hotel.

Sri LankaMy only gripe is that even though the rooms are clean , it is starting to show its age and would need a bit of refurbishment.
This is a lovely hotel to stay at Udawalawe, it was perfect for the purpose of our trip, which was Safari at the Udawalawe national park. The staff are extremely friendly and are very accommodating. The food was lovely and leave you wanting more, glad that it was buffet!

United KingdomBreakfast is poor, maybe because we went at 9.30. Buffet dinner is good but expensive (a la carte works cheaper). Place feels a bit "soviet" (lots of staff only doing the minimum, oppressive reception area). No pool bar. Needs money spending on it - neglected since first opened
Big room, good location.

United KingdomEverywhere was a bit dark.
Lovely big rooms. Balcony to which monkeys paid visits. Surprise every night when a towelling animal would appear on the bed. Excellent room service from 2 young staff who took great pride in their work and were always available and helpful - as well as taking the time to decorate the bed. Manager and front desk staff were very helpful when we had an issue with our dates. They sorted everything for us. Went on a safari organised by the hotel. Very efficient. Swimming pool and grounds lovely and very relaxing.

United Kingdom- Buffet breakfast & dinner were over priced for what you got especially breakfast - bathroom needs updating and maintenance as there was mould on our bathroom ceiling and it just looked dirty because it was dated - lights not working on balcony - flies in dinning area which was annoying while trying to eat - dining area open so you couldn’t escape the heat. It would be good to have a AC dining area option for guests
- location - friendly staff - big room and got upgraded - hotel grounds looked really nice

United KingdomBathroom was poor - little water pressure and hot water. Staff are very pushy for tips. More pronounced than at any other hotel I've stayed at. We booked the safari through the hotel. This is more expensive than booking locally (and there are tons of options to do so at short notice). We expected a reliably and quality service for paying more. However we had a "quide" introduced himself at the ticket office at he jumped onto our jeep. We assumed he was part of the package, as he did not say otherwise. However, after we got going, he mentioned that we must pay him at the end. He would not leave and was very annoying, and genuinely bad as a guide. As was apparent from other jeeps, you dont need an extra guide - this is the role of the driver. Nevertheless, the driver of the jeep did nothing to intervene. It was a scam. The hotel expressed concern but did nothing to help, nothing to compensate us the for the fee demanded by the "guide". I'm sharing the experience so others can be warned - the jeep driver is tour guide and all you need. Say no if any other guide tries to join you.
The location was good, quiet.

MaltaNothing at all
On the border of the jungle one finds this exceptional hotel. The manager and staff are very welcoming. The breakfast and pool staff are also very friendly and helpful. We unexpectedly got an upgrade to one of the best suites in the hotel. The rooms are nicely decorated, impeccably clean and spacious. This suite had a bedroom, a living room besides access to a balcony and a large patio area on its roof. The choice at breakfast is very vast. A excellent hotel to stay to do a safari or visit the nearby junior elephant transit centre. Certainly hotel to return to.
