Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

FranceThe hosts are really nice and helpful. We asked to have dinner prepared by the host family, and I can honestly say that it was the best meal we had during our holidays in Sri Lanka.

United Arab EmiratesA warm welcome and a comfy sleep in the cutest 2 level house! Dinner was delicious and the view from the balcony was nice. It feels like you are on the edge of town but there is a short-cut close by to get you there quickly and easily on foot. The hosts were very helpful organizing a tuk-tuk for us.

RomaniaDon’t know where to stay in Nuwara Eliya? This place will get you an experience that you will remember for long time. If available book it and thank me later. You can get there good advice on what to visit, dinner prepared by the family which is from heaven, do a trail hike in the jungle and the tea fields where the father of the family, Lal, will explain the history of the place. Breakfast is really great. You can get your clothes washed as well. House looks great and the view from there is the best. All the best, Andreea

Romeni and her family are beautiful people, the character of the place, the food was delicious, the peace and quiet. Perfect place to relax and unwind. Easy walk down to town and tuk tuk home avoids the climb.

NetherlandsIt is a nice separate room on the mountain on the edge of the town. So, getting there requires you to walk a few stairs, but the warm welcome and kindness of the hosts make it more than worth it. They truly go the extra mile to make your stay comfortable, including providing a delicious breakfast in their own kitchen, from foods they have grown themselves. We also went on a beautiful hike with their father, who's a naturalist.

United KingdomI honestly can’t say I’ve enjoyed a stay, anywhere, more. Romeni is just the most attentive, attuned host and together with her mother Grace the BEST cook around. The food we had here left me speechless it was so delicious. And then there’s Lal, Romeni’s father and a legend of the mountains who took us on the most breathtaking hike around the forest and surrounding areas. He shared his encyclopaedic knowledge of the flora and forna and even gave us tips for yala (where we were going next). There’s nothing this man doesn’t know about the nature in Sri Lanka and we felt quite blessed to have him as our guide. When we come back to Sri Lanka, our first stop will be to come straight back here.

ItalyThe water in the shower was warm but not hot. Only one power plug near the bed and funny electric system (common in sri lanka). Starecase up to the bed (we were tired from Adam's peak). Laundry service a bit overpriced.
The food they offered for dinner was amazing, far the best food we had in sri lanka and for honest price. The accomodation is nice and clean and host is amazing.

We enjoyed staying in the room, it was very comfortable and decorated with a lot of attention to detail. We only stayed for a night but wished we could have stayed a little longer.
