눉The laundry service was efficient but excessively priced. It costs the same amount to wash a pair of underwear as it does a t-shirt which is unreasonable. The itemised list of clothing for laundering doesn't really take in to account a lot of typical items that westerners would wear and so we found ourselves having to itemise clothes into the wrong category and pay a lot more for it. Clothing is hung on a washing line to air dry and we were quoted around a 20 hour turn around time for it to be ready. If it rains then the laundry will potentially take longer to dry so if you're on a strict time schedule it may not be suitable as there is no electric tumble dryer. The bedroom allowed quite a bit of noise in from the street. There are vents above the large window looking out onto the balcony and as this hotel is situated on a winding street, there is a lot of sounding of horns from tuk tuk drivers passing by. The drive way is very steep. It is an easy enough 15 minute stroll down into town, however you would want to catch a tuk tuk for the drive back to the hotel. Tuk tuk drivers will try and drop you off at the front gate of the hotel (and not at the top) leaving you to do the steep climb yourself. Some tuk tuk's have the capacity to make it up the hill to the front door of the hotel, some don't. You might want to check this before agreeing to go with that driver. Expect to pay between 250-300 rupees for a one way trip from the hotel into town. Wifi is only available in public places. For a fancier hotel I found this frustrating - I needed to use Skype to make international phone calls and was forced to do this in the large echoing foyer. The hotel looks a little unfinished in places. The gardens at the front are not very appealing, there are walls that have been left unpainted, and some of the internal steps along the corridor to the rooms are hard to see and could potentially be a hazard.
눇The staff were very helpful in offering advice on sights to see around town, giving directions as well as arranging a taxi service for our ongoing travel. The breakfast was good, with quite a bit of variety. We had tea/coffee, orange juice fresh banana and papaya, toast, eggs whichever way we liked them and then we were also offered a more traditional Sri Lankan breakfast of homemade roti, chilli sambol and fish curry. The dining room is nicely furnished with huge windows to enjoy the view, however we found this room to be quite hot and too uncomfortable to sit with the blinds open to enjoy it! Our bedroom was very comfortable and had stunning views over the mountains. We had a mini bar fridge which enabled us to keep our complementary bottles of water chilled.
