눉There was an unpleasant smell in the bathroom which I came across in several hotels on my way and which seems to be come from the sewerage. I paid 40$ for a 3-bed-room and compared to other hotels I stayed in I consider it a bit pricey for the facilities they have got there. However, if you consider not only the room but everything that comes with it I'll say you get still great value for your money.
눇The home stay is just a 5-minute walking distance away from the bus stop and really close to The Rock, so that you can easily walk there in 15-20 minutes. Also it is located kind of in the middle of the jungle so that you can hear peacocks or see monkeys there. It like a little oasis. When I arrived I was welcomed by the family of the owner and was offered some black tea. The family is really nice - when I told them that I would like to go to Pidurangala the son of the owner took me there by their scooter even though it was pouring... However, he has got some good feeling for the rain, because it stopped when we arrived at Pidurangala so the we could climb up there and only started again when we were on our way back. And even this was beautiful, because there are some huge waterfalls forming with the rain. So it was a nice short trip AND he didn't take any money for it! The breakfast is really good with a variety of different Sri Lankan specialties. The owner works as a guide in Sigiriya Rock and is really passionate about it. If you want to know he will tell you some interesting historical background about it.

눉There was nothing bad :)
눇The guesthouse was spotlessly clean, and although the room was fairly small there was plenty of space to relax on the balcony outside the room that is surrounded in nature. The hosts are very kind and generous; the husband is a member of the Sigiria archeological group and gave us a very interesting talk about the history of the rock as well as organising a taxi for us, and the wife is an amazing cook who provided us with a variety of delicious foods for breakfast and dinner. Additionally, the guesthouse is only a short walk from Sigirya, and from the main par of the villiage where there are some good tea shops.
