Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

PortugalRoom was a bit outdated. Dinner was a bit expensive , cost-benefit, compared to surrounding and other places we visited.
Location was very convenient to visit the rock. Hotel landscape is beautiful.

AustraliaThe aircon in our room was not very efficient and the ceiling fan only had one setting, being very fast. The shape of the triple room could do with a more powerful unit. We ended up pulling the single bed into the main living area to get some relief from the heat. We had to ask 3 times for a travel adapter and ended up tracking one down ourselves. Only small issues really - not life changing!!
We stayed in a triple room set amongst lovely gardens and ponds. The hotel is quite spread out so you dont feel crowded in. The pool and surrounds overlooks Sigiriya Rock which is just amazing. Definately worth staying here just to see this. The food at the restaurant was delicious and there was plenty of options to choose from. The bar served cold beer and delicious cocktails. It was truly a magical place to stay.

United KingdomOverly expensive. Also we had breakfast included but were charged. We paid after being told that is what we booked although we saw different. Ended up giving a bad taste after what was a very nice stay.
Selection and quality was very good.

United KingdomWe arrived much earlier than expected on the first day so we had breakfast before checking in, therefore it was a breakfast not included with the room or pre booked. We felt it was very expensive so would recommend booking breakfast with the room if it something you would like as it seemed far better value for money.
Close enough to walk to Lion rock and restaurants but still felt immersed in the jungle and wildlife. Spacious rooms with a big shower and bath.

United KingdomThe food is ok but not the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka.
The view of Sigirya from the pool is spectacular, especially when you’ve spent the morning climbing it. The location is really great and near to the rock. The staff are very friendly and will do everything to make your stay comfortable.

NetherlandsI think the price/quality ratio is rather off. Breakfast is not included( which at this price point it really should be). Echoing previous reviews here that the restaurant is overly priced with a simple menu, however I did enjoy the food. There is indeed a bit of a musky smell, however keep in mind you are in a super humid environment and it was not really a big issue.
The rooms/ cottages are set up in an extremely spacious way. With all sorts of green in front and with Monkeys and birds easily spotted. If one wants an instagram picture of the swimming pool towards the rock this is your hotel. Shower was one of the best I have had during all my different hotels in Sri Lanka. Staff was friendly, but slightly more formal.

AustraliaBetter if we could have stayed a little longer!
With the Rock clearly visible from your seat around the swimming pool, you have a great reminder of why you’re there - or the memorable climb you’ve just had! A very relaxing atmosphere and quiet, spacious accommodation. Highly recommended.

United KingdomThe food at the restaurant was OK (buffet style), not exceptional. The rooms are spacious but quite basic / not a lot of attention to the finishings. Nothing major though, just minor glitches
Location is stunning, in the middle of the jungle, an oasis of tranquility, with monkeys and birds roaming around the place. The swimming pool is nice and from some angles you have a partial view of the Lion Rock. Staff were helpful in arranging a tuktuk to the Rock. The Ayurveda therapy with massage and steam bath was a great experience!

United KingdomIf like us you hate the Muzak Sri Lanka pumps over the P.A, you're not going to like this. Here, we stayed for two nights, and they played the same song ( a Muzak version of George Benson's Nothings Gonna Change My Love For You) on a continuous loop. We must easily have heard it a couple of hundred times! The large reception/dining room looked inviting but, apart from braving breakfast (which was good), we couldn't stand the musical torture so ate elsewhere!
Great location in a holiday park style. Very attentive staff and a lovely pool. The cocktail bar and waiter were superb. There are quite a few smaller restaurants just around the corner. We were pleasantly surprised with our chalet (141), yes it was a wee bit tired but airy, cool and quiet. Would I recommend it? Read on!
