Our room was very small with tiny windows up high so you couldn't see out. Only one of the windows, which was in the bathroom, opened, so the room was quite hot and stuffy during our stay. Although the bathroom was spacious and well equipped, it did have black mould growing due to the lack of air being able to get to the room.

The staff were amazing and very well organised at Riad Lyon-Mogador! Incredibly friendly and so helpful. At the start of your stay, they take you through a map of Essaouira and send you recommended restaurants and activities via WhatsApp so you always have them to refer back to. We booked a 2 hour horseride through the riad and they were quick to book and help us out. The riad is in a good location in the medina, around a 10min walk to the beach and fishing port and really close to loads of good restaurants and shops. The rooftop was lovely and breakfast was served there every morning which was amazing - fresh fruit, orange juice, eggs and pastries every morning! All in all, this riad was good value for money

The room, despite being very cute and furnished with taste, is a bit small. The bathroom is a bit dark (even though I personally enjoyed the vibe) but most importantly it is not separated fully from the rest of the room, is to say: the upper part of the wall is "missing" (by design) resulting in lack of privacy if you are not traveling alone. I think installing a glass top would solve the problem while keeping the esthetic.

The Riad has perfect location and super friendly staff (they even upgraded us to a comfort room just because they could). The place itself looks very new and it's very clean. The terrace is also super nice as it is higher than majority of the buildings around it, so it gives you a pretty nice view. Breakfast was also good.

I loved the beautifully understated elegant Riad. The staff were so helpful and calm whilst at the same time not intrusive. They were very genuine and thoughtful. The view from the roof terrace is also amazing. The fresh breakfast was very good as well!

This Riad provided such a peaceful stay. Our room and the terrace were beautifully decorated, extremely clean, and very comfortable. We joked that we would like our house decorated this way! The staff was friendly and attentive and very helpful in giving tips for Essaouira. Fantastic stay, highly recommend!

There was a bit of confusion when the management sent us a message to tell us there was a blue pen mark on one of the sheets! We never got an update so presumably the mark came out when it was washed, Phew!

We had very relaxing Christmas here, loved the rooftop breakfast.

Our room 9 and 11 on the top floor, were very small with super small windows and a bit noisy at breakfast when guests and staffs were coming and going. It looks like the other room on other floors were bigger and with windows, I would try to get those if I came back.

The location is great in the Medina, roof deck is really nice to hang out. The staff is great, good breakfast too.

I was in a room where the bathtub was semi-enclosed. While it’s a lovely touch, it was a bit dark in the bathtub, even if there was a small light. But it’s not a big deal really.

Location was great. Camille and Jean-Charles are great hosts. Very warm and helpful, very hands-on. Gave us an excellent recommendation for a restaurant for the first night when we arrived. Rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated so you feel like you’re home.
