Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

United KingdomThe bathroom extractor is less than useless. The mirrors drip condensation within a second. There are 2 tiny hooks on back of bathroom door and with that level condensation the towels can’t dry. Fortunately a truly charming male member of Mercier Hotel delivered clean/dry towels daily.

Location was fantastic - I liked how we could just reach the room straight off the street The design of the room was really cool, lots of art, and really cosy. Could not want anything more.

FranceVery comfortable room, ideally located near the city centre. The bed is really big and comfortable. Easy access to the room using a code at the door (watch out for the communication from the host on Booking before arrival). Very clean and well decorated. Would recommend without a doubt !

Awesome location, super friendly staff and a great breakfast. The location is like 10 minutes walk to the Amsterdam City Center and there are other shops close to it. would highly recommend for your visits to Amsterdam!

IrelandThe hotel was very nice but our room was like a small room out the back of the property. It wasn't great looking very old looking and more of a 2 star room. However it was warm and nice shower. Breakfast in the hotel was superb. We didn't stay long in our room just sleap so that was fine.

Germanywhere to begin ? 1. We requested the Wi-Fi password through sending a direct message to the property owner and til the end of our stay we were not provided with the password. 2. Next morning we went to the reception of the hotel which was like 7 mins walk-ing distance from the room. yes! the reception is not beside the room or above it or anywhere near it. 3. we asked the reception to send over anyone who can help us with the luggage and they said they’ve no staff available to help us. take a not on this because it will change :) 4. Anyhow we went to the reception to ask for a late checkout since our trains were to move by 7 pm. the reception said it is no problem to stay till 5 pm but they’ll have to confirm it on the system and with “who I believe” is the decision maker. 5. 1 hour later after I went back to the city, they called saying it is not possible to have a late checkout and they’ll send someone to help me take my luggage out and that I need to come back NOW to take the luggage out from the room. 6. anyway I went back to the room, took the luggage out. but even this wasn’t easy, let me tell you that I should be checking out at 12 o’clock sharp and the code was already not working at 11:50am when the staff came over to the room, I informed them i still have 10 mins of my time where I am locked outside of my room which I’m entitled to use it’s bathroom meanwhile I couldn’t because the code of the room was not working. I seriously wish this was an easier time for me there! unfortunately it was too challenging .
the room is clean and can be comfy for short stays.
