Looking at the layout of the property, it would seem that there are few rooms that face inwards with a view of the building, it was a little disappointing that we had one of these when so many of the rooms had a view of the canal (front and back) - especially as I had paid for an upgraded room

The hotel is architecturally gorgeous and has a slight blade runner vibe. Really very lovely. The suite also was beautiful with high ceilings, huge windows with a view onto the canal and lovely, deco-style decor. I loved it. The staff were charming, went out of their way to be friendly and helpful, with a very slight Fawlty-esque vibe which added to the charm.

The hotel was a complete rabbit warren and the route to our room was quite difficult to locate - more signage would be useful! The hotel's app, reached via a QR code in the room, gave very little specific information regarding services and facilities, and how to access them.

Good location just 10 minutes walk from Amsterdam Centraal, so very convenient for arrival in the city, and for exploring further afield. Lovely large comfortable room, with views over the harbour. Dale who worked in the bar/lounge couldn't do enough for his customers!

The room was very hot at nighttime this was raised with staff where they explained that due to the age of the hotel there was limited they could do, I would not book in the summer months as it would be unbearable I wish hotels would use fitted sheets, the sheets came off every night, which was quite unhygienic waking up sleeping on the bare mattress

The property is very dark inside, and the decore quite dated. There was a lot of noise at night that made it difficult to sleep. I thought it was the drains, but I think it was the wind hitting the flags quite hard. When we arrived at the spa there were used towels on almost every lounger and empty beer cans lying around the spa and even one inside the sauna. It’s a shame wet used towels are not collected more regularly.

The property was centrally located. The staff were very friendly. In particular, the man working in the bar was extremely nice and maintained such a nice demeanour while serving so many customers on his own. He recommended a very good red wine. The man who assisted us with check in ran into us after his shift and was very kind and helpful even when not working.

The staff forgot to replenish the bottled water， I called the front desk and was told that room service was off duty and couldn't replenish it.

No alcohol in the rooms mini bar and the bar closed too early for a 5 star hotel in a big city. Slow service in the resturant. Room was a little warm even though the thermostat was on munimum

WiFi wasn’t very good, I ended up using my own data and partner struggled on with the WiFi but wasn’t happy about it!

For the price it was a great location - 5-10 minutes walk to central station, near local attractions etc. Staff were friendly and helpful, room was a good size and well equipped with mini fridge, coffee machine etc (superior deluxe room). Clean, comfortable and quiet considering its location - would recommend. Didn’t try restaurant or spa facilities so can’t comment on them.

If you are a light sleeper who is sensitive to light, then the bathroom door is a problem. Although frosted, so privacy not an issue, it does let a lot of light into the room. The bar area is more of a dining area with tables and chairs than a relaxing bar, but still very nice.

Bizarrely - Our remote controlled curtains opened early in the morning (while we were sleeping) - I expect that someone was opening their room curtains and the signal was also received by the ones in our room too. This clearly should not happen.

Staff were very helpful, the room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and the en-suite was well equipped. Breakfast was really good. The location is also great, giving very easy access to the city center and Central Station.

In our room, one of our chairs was worn out with springs and a n arm broken. The music at breakfast time was very dated.

The architecture and bedroom quality are amazing. Breakfasts offer more than expected and the staff were very accommodating. We were made to feel extremely welcome.

It was expensive for what it was. Over £600 for 3 nights. This was room only, and I don't think it was good value in hindsight

The room was a little hot & couldn’t work the thermostat to turn the temperature down or put air conditioning on, we did use the fan in the wardrobe but the air was warm so didn’t benefit us to much. I booked late check out until 1pm but got locked out after coming out the spa so had to go to reception in my swimwear and gown to get the key working again.

Room was clean and spacious, nice bath & loved the spa facilities!!

Overpriced breakfast, especially as a couple, over €60's plenty of local independents that were less than half the price.

Unusual gothic style, well located for central Amsterdam and station. Friendly staff. Good health facilities.
