Our stay at Hjelle Hotel was one of our very favorites during our two week road trip in Norway. Mr. Hjelle, the owner of this beautiful property was so friendly and welcoming. He treated us to a very special room and knew so much about the history of the hotel. The views from the restaurant are spectacular, and the dinner (as well as the breakfast) was outstanding. We enjoyed a beautiful walk along the lake to a very scenic waterfall. We were so sorry we had to leave after just one night and would love to come back to this wonderful place.

Overall, there is nothing much to complain about. One thing can be to add some hooks on the bathroom door to hang clothes or towels.

Abzuholen location, free parking, option for overnight charging were all good. Breakfast was really good. The economy room is a little small but design is good so comfortable. Additionally, you can sit just outside the room with great views all around.

This is a very special hotel, the location is stunning, with view over the lake and glaciers which makes an unforgettable way to have your coffee in the morning. We really enoyed it. Very quiet, nice old fashion style atmosphere at the restaurant, Wonderful breakfast! We would definetely stay here again!

The motel room is fairly small, but quite adequate, with nowhere to place one’s luggage except on the floor and having to step around it.

The setting is lovely surrounded by beautiful, majestic mountains and a lake….tranquil and serene. The property is well maintained and the rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet with a view over the lake or the mountains. Great to have a kettle to make our own tea and coffee in the room. The breakfast buffet was super with many offerings to enjoy!

Amazing location, awesome customer service, good facilities, and good breakfast. The owner was very helpful and gave us amazing instructions on road closures and alternate routes to keep us safe during one of the worst storms in Norway. He saved us time and ensured we avoided roads with unsafe conditions.

We were in the annex to save money. No real storage for clothes which was fine for an overnight but not an extended stay.

Beautiful hotel in an amazing setting - wish we had stayed longer and had time to take the boat out on the lake and/or fish. Really friendly and helpful staff. The owners ensured all our needs were met. Delicious dinner and breakfast.

The Hjelle hotel has a long history and the stroy behind each room is quite interesting. It seems like we stayed in the room which belonged to one of the main female founders of this hotel. The current owner is very hospitable and helpful. The room itself is very clean and cozy , with a great view of green fields and lake. We all love it! If only got chance, I will not hesitate to spend a two or three days vacation here.

This was one of our favourite stays on our Norway road trip. The feel of the hotel is "old fashioned" but just lovely. And the view from our room was just stunning. We also loved our evening meal and walk around the grounds. It's not a 5* chain hotel but we loved the more personal feel about it.
