All was perfect

A retreat it is! This is one of if not the best self-catering places I’ve been at. Cozy, comfortable, clean and has everything one needs. Even, home-made cookies. I had a wonderful welcome by Gill and Noel and they were happy to help with everything. The surroundings are wonderful, don’t miss their garden, it’s wonderful. I did not want to leave the place. I wish I could have stayed more than the two nights booked.

It was perfect in every way.

The special Breakfast Basket filled with local goodies was delicious and abundant. The location was so and charming! A little piece of heaven. Gill and Noel were friendly and so helpful answering questions and taking care of every detail to make our stay special!! Highly recommend staying a few days at this retreat.

We cannot find anything we didn't like

The location was excellent. The hosts were welcoming and generous. Several extras including fresh fruit and baking on arrival was a special personal touch along with chocolate & Walnuts during our stay. Attention to detail was outstanding

An immaculate property with amazing hosts. Private and peaceful accommodation in lovely gardens. Perfect for an escape. Handy to Queenstown, Wanaka and Alexandra. The cottages are spacious and very well equipped. Bed was super comfy. Would stay again.

Cottage was a delight and above expectations with wonderful hosts. Set among a beautiful garden and nestled in a walnut grove we had a most enjoyable stay. Tranquil living very close to centre. Just keep doing what you are doing.

A beautiful green oasis set in a grove of walnut trees and cared for gardens. We stayed for ten nights in our well equipped, comfortable and sunny cottage. Tucked well away from the highway but very close to Cromwell. Gill and Noel were such friendly, generous and helpful hosts.

Super stay! This place is idyllic, very private, clean & comfortable. Even a grill of our own! The hosts were exceptionally friendly & gave us good tips about the area. Great 4 nights, would stay again.

There was nothing we did not like.

The location is well signposted from the road. My wife and I easily found it. The 3 cottages are modern, luxurious and well placed to provide privacy to all their guests. Our hosts were very friendly and provided home baking on arrival. Would have stayed there longer but we had to leave earlier than expected. Our hosts offered to refund us the unused stay and as added extra provided a packed lunch for our trip back home. Would recommend Burn Cottage Retreat to anyone whether it is for a quiet relaxing time or as a base for exploring the local district.

I booked this for my parents as part of an anniversary trip and they loved their stay here. they said the couple who owned the cottages were lovely, they thought the cottage was really cosy, they loved the farm animals and the walk up the hill. thank you so much for making this a great stay for them

The cottage, the gardens, the location and the care and attention of the hosts was of extremely high quality for a self-catering property pitched to the independent traveller. It is a peaceful spot punctuated only by the sound of walnuts dropping to the gravel driveway, inquisitive sheep peering at their new visitors through the fence, or industrious Californian quail passing through on the hunt for insects in the lawn. A delightful spot in a beautiful part of Central Otago.
