Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandSome men can gossip a lot. The negative talk about how people should live? However they are entitled to their own opinions. It would be nice if they kept it to themselves though.
Nice warm heater in the kitchen.

New ZealandShowers are not cleaned on a regular basis. floors are not done regularly in the sleeping areas. There are no bins for rubbish in one of the toilets, no bath mats, in the showers while showering with Covid on a level 1. This is in the backpackers area that I stay in. Poor maintenance. Stones are in the car park area when I drive my car in. I have been here for 3 weeks. Not much toilet paper for people while you are in the back packers area. Should bring an extra roll in case you wake up and there is none in the morning when you wake up. Windows are not cleaned at least once a week. No soap or hand towels in the bathroom facilities. No sanitising areas on entering the back packers area. Safety is a concern for girls, as a lady was approached by one of the guys in the other dorms, asking her to come into his room. Not good. However it is good they have camera's in the kitchen and hallway area.
Good value for money if you only need to stay for a short while or long term.

New ZealandWe check in the room for backpackers but its way cant imagine. Because the beds comes with no blanket, bedsheets or pillow. My friends so frustrated and asked me to refund. But it almost late night and we are so lucky there is still a vacant room can accommodate 3 of us. Thanks!
The main counter where you gonna check in looks nice! We just lucky get upgraded with added some of $$. At least way better rather than staying at backpackers.

New ZealandIn the backpackers it would be nice to have a pantry and a larger fridge installed in there. It looks quite messy because everyone's food is all over the bench. There is no where to store your food. There are some long-term people who actually need more storage and a larger fridge to store meat. Need an oven as well. Be nice if they can sweep the car park as this has stones on just about every day.
I met a few friends and they were cool to talk too. We were in the same dorm, in the women's only dorm.

United KingdomNever staying here again. The photos must be several years old and the contrast with reality could not be greater; smelly lounge area, kitchen strewn with dirty crockery, and a bathroom where we couldn't bear to touch any surfaces due to the disgusting state it was in. Not fit for anyone except the most desperate traveller who doesn't want to cook or wash.

ItalyThe matress wasn’t comfortable at all but that wasn’t the worst thing: the room was smelly and the blanket as well, found 3 empty bottles of wine under my bed with a plastic cup. There is a very small fridge for all the rooms and when we ask on the reception to use another fridge for our food they said that would be enough. I’ve been in a lot of hostel around new zealand and had better experience for this price.
The location is good, 10m to the airport. A lot of parking space

New ZealandThe bathroom was just filthy, shower was clogged with hair, toilet could not be flushed properly, bed was extremely uncomfortable, bedroom has no heater hence the bedroom was freezing at night with cold breeze coming through window panels.
The staff member at the reception was lovely and truly welcoming (this backpacker shares reception with motel and hotel too).

New ZealandThis place is filthy. I walked in to a very small kitchen/lounge area with an over flowing rubbish bin, dirty dishes in the sink, beer bottles everywhere, cigarette buts in a cup(are there even smoke alarms????) and a awful smell. The rooms are very small and cluttered, there is no safe space to store belongings. I ended up going back to reception and paying an extra $250 upgrade to the kiwi Hotel. When I explained the state of the rooms to the receptionist, he simply stated that it's a backpackers and that's what you get. He also told me that there are long term residents staying here for $20 per night. Seriously - don't do it!!!!
