We smelt a very strong spice smell in the hallway on level 4, and inside the room. When we reported it to reception, we were told it was the Sulphur smell of Rotoura. We knew the difference. We were moved to another room, the spa bath jets were not working but they did offer bath salts for $5.00 at reception

Have stayed here often. Decor has always been a little dated, but the spectacularly comfortable beds, cleanliness, and reasonable rates (usually!) more than offset this. However its getting a little "ragged around the edges".....grout in the bathrooms needs repointing, chrome wearing off the toilet cistern button looks shabby, though its spotlessly clean: ditto paint flaking off the door and scorch marks on one of the power points. Just little things that are starting to become obvious.

Most comfortable beds in town! Service is good, the place is clean: I generally ask for little more....

To say that the breakfast buffet was disappointing was an understatement. There were not a lot of choices to begin with. I remember our last time there and it was much better. The only coffee machine broke and no one was able to fix it. Then the croissants were finished and were not replaced. When asked,a staff member kept saying in a minute, but they never arrived. All in all a disappointing breakfast experience. My kids and elderly parents were really looking forward to it.

The atmosphere of the hotel was nice. The doors connecting our two rooms were a nice touch.

Shower was either scalding hot or freezing cold. Spa bath not working. Room key cards kept stopping working and the tables at breakfast weren't cleaned due to lack of staff.

Breakfast was yum. Beds super comfy rooms a good size. Free use of Guest laundry was awesome.

The, at best, luke warm breakfast and cold cup of tea. This was at 9am in the morning, i"m sure if we went at 7am it would have been hot, but this is not good enough. We intended to have breakfast the next morning , but gave it a miss. Our travelling companions went and said that it was even colder. I think you need at least one women to oversee and ensure food is always hot. We owned several big cafes in Auckland and know what standard it should be.

The room was very generous in size , in a handy position., with plenty of parking. Great TV size, most appreciated for viewing the sport.

Fairly close to the CBD in the main street. We had an issue with the toilet in the first room but they moved us to an upgraded room same day. Not a new hotel but still clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet is great value if you compare to local cafes. I would stay here again.

The hotel was really dated, which isn't a bad thing, but it could do with some modernizing. For a one night stay, we couldn't really fault it, however, I'm not sure if I would stay there longer, as it was extremely basic.

We really liked the welcome we received from reception. The room was extremely large, as was the adjoining bathroom. It was a good location, and the car park was very useful. Loved the big smart TV.

The bathroom curtain was mouldy, the whole bathroom is dated and the kitchen sink was not very well wiped. Also, no microwave to heat your food. Netflix wasn't available, so you have to use your own account.

Nice view from our window. Can see geysers, and nice to see the big dining hall. Room is big and the beds were comfortable. Complimentary soap shampoo were infused with kawakawa. Very accessible/close to food places and governor gARDEN.

Bathroom facilities are not nice, old, outdated, pretty odd set up (needed to go on my tippy toes just to sit on the toilet!?) Pool was out of use
