Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Its location was on Lake Rotorua, Very peaceful and quiet. On the south side of Rotorua so a good spot to visit the geysers etc .we had a four night stay and central to everything we wanted to do. Cobb and co.restaurant in Rotorua has great meals and the highlight is you are served by a robot!

AustraliaBooked for spa (massages) & cancelled at the last minute. We couldn't rebook as we left early the next day. One of the reasons I wanted this resort is for the massages. Disappointed we didn't get a room with a good view.
Resort is on the lake, but there was no view from the room which is what we expected. Patio quite small, so couldn't really utilise. Staff were wonderful.

New ZealandThe resort looks in need of maintenance, with damage to the walls in our room only poorly fixed, missing tiles on the patio, and some of the furniture swelling with water damage. The staff seemed hectic/dismissive and in some cases out of their depth with the job. The pool in the photos looks pretty awesome but in real life is quite small and unheated so we didn't use it.
We liked the location right on the lake's edge, with an easy drive to all the highlights of Rotorua. The room was large and clean, and the beds comfortable.

Japan- I know it's not the property fault but the number of the small flys coming from the lake were crazy at night. There was a spray in the room but obviously you cannot get rid of them all and of course it is not possible to sit and chill on the terrace at night. It isn't a big deal but worth knowing ahead. - Considering the lake in front and the pool in the property, we couldn't understand why it was prohibited to dry swimming wear outside of the room. There is a washing machine and dryer free of charge but if you stay only for a night it's hard to get it unoccupied. Some swimming suits aren't good for the dryer either. - The pool wasn't really clean and it seemed like there was a construction/ renovation during our stay.
Clean rooms (not really big but everything you need was inside). Lake just in front of the property. Helpful staff.

AustraliaWe were misled regarding use of the washing machine by 2 staff. We were told we could use it between 8am and 9 am. However another guest alerted us that he had put his name on a roster booking the washing machine at 8am. That was after I commenced use of the washing machine. The pool looked as if it has seen better days.
Attractive room and comfortable. Good location by the lake. Nice spa. Warm greeting from reception. Appreciate the use of a washing machine and dryer. Relaxing furniture by the pool and outside the rooms. Staff friendly particularly the young lady we registered with.

United KingdomThe pool looked like it needed cleaning which was probably more to do with the condition of the pool enamel rather than the water as we knew it had been changed that day.
Really close to amenities and overlooking the lake the Wai Ora is perfectly placed for those visiting Roturua. Hosts were really helpful. Parking good. Free laundry.
