Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

UkraineI would like the bed to be changed at least once every 3 days no hair dryer there is a railway nearby, it didn’t bother us much, but it’s not suitable for people with sensitive sleep poor sound insulation, we heard every step of the neighbor behind the wall
Thank you so much for your hospitality, special thanks to Nelly! The kitchen has all the necessary utensils and appliances close to the beach, close to Lisbon clean, thoughtful, caring about guests! We had a flight in the evening and since no one was checking in that day, we were allowed to leave our things, take a shower, use the kitchen, and were treated to cake and coffee :) there is an opportunity to communicate in the kitchen with people from different countries (from other rooms)

AustraliaA shame to leave!
Bonvalot Guest House is as good as it gets. Firstly, the friendliness of the staff makes it feel like you are staying at home and you feel extremely welcome into the property. The house is very beautiful, modern but classical with style and just a short stroll to Praia Paco de Arcos, or Parque Das Poetas. I loved my time here so much I stayed here twice!

United KingdomThe only real downside for some is that the railway line for trains running between Cais do Sodre in Lisbon along the coast to Cascais, are noisy. This didn't bother us too much and they stop running at night (until 1 am perhaps - I didnt check) The upside is that the station at Paco de Arcos, is just a few minutes walk away. Very easy therefore to visit all the little places and beaches along the coast.
The guest house is well organised. Colour coded doors to bedrooms and likewise, storage boxes in the fridges and cupboards. I do not believe it was occupied to full capacity, but kitchen facilities and equipment were very good. We didn't do any cooking, just toast in the mornings. It's all there if you like to cook. The lady who welcomed us (Neli, I think her name is) was very pleasant and helpful. Always eager to ask if we had everything we needed. Rooms were cleaned and towels changed every two days.

It's a great place to stay also for long period. It is like at home but more because the interior architecture is on the 'next' level. Not the usual modern style but a refined taste. The staff is really more than special: superb! Position is perfect for the beach and the train station to Lisbon/Cascais is just closed in 5 minutes walking.

BulgariaModern and freshly renovated interior, super clean all of the time. The staff are very welcoming and supportive. I also liked the community feel you can get from the common spaces and the spacious and well lit rooms. Having the balcony as a place to relax and enjoy the sun was also great. Overall if you need a place to stay in the area I highly recommend it!

United StatesThe house, and my room with a private bath, exceeded my expectations. The whole property is meticulously cared for by Naylia, who is warm and welcoming and very efficient. There is a nice grass courtyard with a raised patio with seating and a well-equipped kitchen. The location was excellent, also - just a 5 to 10 minute walk to metro, grocery, restaurants and beaches. I highly recommend this property and will stay there again if I have the opportunity.

United KingdomIf you’re not into that kind of thing, some rooms are next to the train track. It goes until about 3 or 4 am. Thos didn’t put me off though!
Very welcoming. The lady that looks after the property was extremely friendly and helpful. She keeps everything very clean. There are also many nice communal areas throughout the house. The location was great for us as it’s half way between Cascais and Lisbon with a train station 4 minutes walk away (we bought the navegante card and kept tipping it up, you can use this on trains, buses and the ferry if local) There is a decent enough beach 10 minutes walk away and many other beaches a walk or train ride away. If you want warmer waters go over to Costa da Caparica on the ferry. But plan the journey as it can be tricky to get back from. The room we were in (as well as the entire house) is very tastefully done. We found there was plenty of fridge space and a designated area in the e cupboard for each room. Also a well stocked kitchen. All other residents, at the time, were also lovely.

SwitzerlandVery nice, cozy guesthouse situated in Paço de Arcos between Lisbon and Cascais, good starting point for excursions in both directions. The train station is very close, approx. 5 minutes walking distance. I also liked Paço de Arcos itself, there are few tourists and some cute cafés and nice restraurants in the center reflecting real portuguese lifestyle. I also appreciated the deco of the room, the comfortable bed, the big private bathroom and the well equipped kitchen. The garden and the terrace are amazing. The noice of the train did not disturb me personally (and I‘m pretty sensitive). Last but not least: the staff is sooooo lovely!!
