Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. It is an amazing place with stunning views over the river Douro. The hospitality is one of the best we've ever seen. We loved talking to staff and other guests, and the dinner was great too. Very good wine and port, so if you're lucky to book - don't doubt and book!

United KingdomNothing!
Wonderful place to stay. We had a huge room with doors opening to a garden area. Comfortable bed. Fantastic breakfast with lots of choice of bread, cheese and meats. The dinner option is a must….extremely good value…..3 courses served with their own wine and port at the end by the fire for us which was lovely. Ate with the other guests at one large table…..highly recommend. Staff friendly. It was pouring with rain when we arrived and we were ushered into the lounge to sit by the fire and given a glass of port to welcome us. It would be amazing to stay in summer as have a pool and great views. Roads are narrow to reach but well sign posted and yes follow their signs and don’t take the turn google maps suggest (like another review).

United States of AmericaRooms were incredibly comfortable. Miguel was amazing! Dinner was great with a lot of delicious wine. The pours at dinner were quite generous…. Gathering with a glass of pre-dinner wine starts at 7:30 pm and dinner starts at 8 pm. If you are questioning whether or not to stay, don’t think twice and book this amazing place. Do keep in mind that the drive to the property is uphill and tight streets. Follow the very clear signs for the best path and you will be fine.

CanadaAbsolutely nothing - it was a perfect place for us.
Our host Miguel greeted us with a complimentary glass of the family’s port wine and led us to our accommodations across the courtyard. Our suite was a spacious room with a very comfortable king bed, chesterfield, tv, large bathroom with a bidet and toilet, and the shower water pressure was excellent and piping hot. We had a private patio just outside our room. The lounge was perfect - casual and inviting with fabulous music playing over the sound system, and we sank into the cushioned seating while enjoying an aperitif of the family’s wine before dinner. The 3 course meal was prepared by Miguel and his family (their recipes!) and exceeded expectations. Well presented generous portions meant very little was left on our plates. Miguel strives to please and ensures no menu is repeated during your stay. After supper we moved back to the lounge and enjoyed espresso or a generous glass of Casa Cimeira’s 40 year old port - devine. The aperitif, meal, and after dinner drinks were all included in the à la carte price (30€ per person) and worth every penny. Breakfast is included in the price of your stay and you will not go away hungry!

Quinta da Casa Cimeira ... wow, what a gem and such a unique stay. The rooms are fantastic ... ours at the top of the house (the owner’s room as a child!) had a stunning view of the Valley ... spacious, very comfortable beds, and quiet, in a 200 year old house that is maintained beautifully. Miguel is a gracious host and treats you as family. The glass of their port in the lounge area on arrival, the dinner, and the breakfast were all excellent. Most unique, though: Ensure you have dinner there. It makes sense for practical reasons location-wise but, more importantly, Miguel creates opportunity for connection. First, all eight couples staying the night gathered in the lounge for a pre-dinner drink, then moved to a large table for a delicious three course meal, and retired back to the lounge for after-dinner port (all wine/port from the property). It was a three hour experience in which we laughed and shared stories with others from around the world, one of those treasures travelers often miss yet become highlights of a vacation. We heartily recommend Casa Cimeira and would love to return one day.

LatviaAs mentioned by others - access road is quite steep and narrow, be prepared, it’s well worth it.
For me, 10 is too low score for this property. This is one of those places where you want to come back. You don’t feel like guest, but returning friend. It’s old building with modern facilities, everything what you can expect from hotel. What makes difference is dinner, go for it. It’s cooked with passion and accompanied by local wine(s). You meet everyone who is there - place isn’t big, just 8 rooms. You mingle, get to know new people and enjoy atmosphere. And food is delicious, and not same every day according to those who spent few nights there.

United States of AmericaNothing really. The worst was the drive up the mountain using Google maps!
The location high on the hillside overlooking the Douro Valley was spectacular. It gave us a better understanding of those whose livelihoods depend on wine. The hosts make their own port. All guests of the Casa eat and drink together at a large table with the host who cooks the meal himself. Miguel is a wonderful chef and converses well in English. We walked the vineyards and narrow roads surrounding the Casa. Do not use Google Maps instructions to reach the Casa. Once you locate it on the map, start up on the highway it shows and take it farther up the mountain. Google has you drive these nail-biting narrow roads on the way up. The accommodations and Grounds are lovely. There is even a swimming pool. It was way too cold when we visited.

United States of AmericaIt’s an old property but is kept up great, but be aware the shower is very small.
The dinner you can opt into was delicious and served at a community table. Definitely take this option! Right in Douro Valley near many wineries. It is up on hill, so you will need to drive up narrow streets. The owner is extremely welcoming! Quaint bed n breakfast.

FranceThe place is fantastic, better than we expected! Great staff and warm welcoming, they service us their homemade excellent port when we arrived. The room is very spacious and charming with elegant antique furnitures, great atmosphere! The dinner was amazing! Great food and wine, they were very kind to serve us with another pre-drink of port, lots of great red wine during the dinner and with a 40years port after dinner. Breakfast is also nice and fresh! Thank you Miguel and the family! We definitely will come back next time! We enjoyed it so much! Wen & Stan
