Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomMy room was on the street side so it was noisy all night. Didn't get much sleep also because of other people snoring. I would separate the rooms boys/girls. Same with the bathroom as it was only one. It was bareable for 2 nights but I wouldn't stay for longer in mixed bedroom.
Location great, not far from bus and metro stops. Breakfast was smartly prepared, using those jars you save money and environment. It was ready late in the evening so people like me who leave early can have it before they go. Not my first choice of food though but it wasn't bad, yoghurt, eggs and butter and apples that will do :) Beds were comfy enough, bathroom and common areas clean. Nice backyard. Girl on the reception super nice.

United KingdomNothing, However, I may suggest a TV in the room for the rainy days (if it is not raining, Porto is such a nice place to go outside instead of staying at the room). For the breakfast, I may suggest to include a box of juice.
The location was good, close to metro, and to a couple of grocery stores. The staff was very friendly. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. There is a common kitchen so that you can make yourself some meals.

New ZealandGreat location, close to public transport, bus stop to bus station and trains 2 minutes walk, Metro 5 minutes walk. 20 minutes walk to Porto centre. Really helpful staff, giving assistance as required. Big bedroom, bright and airy with comfortable bed. I had a double room, not a bunk room. The whole place was spotless. Great breakfast included. Didn't feel like a noisy or busy hostel. Big old building with beautiful wooden floors. Would definitely recommend and go again.

Value for money especially since breakfast was included. Overall facilities were good.

AustraliaThe street was a little noisy, and unfortunately, the room I was in had a person who was the loudest snorer (not that it's the hostels fault)
Staff were heaps helpful. They had a nice back garden and breakfast included.

United KingdomIt was very warm in the room, it would have been nice to have had a fan. The shower doors didn’t have locks, so I tried to shower when no one else was in the bathroom as they were shared.
Good location, close to metro but a short 15 minute walk to the city centre. It was great having breakfast included. There is a really nice garden out the back. Staff are friendly. Everywhere is clean.

GermanyThe street in front unfortunately is quite busy and noisy. Even with closed windows the street noise is hearable. And the house itself is not very soundproof as well. So I recommend ear plugs.
Nice building and spacious room. Cute little backyard. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good location. The downtown area is within a 20 minute walk.

FinlandA little bit far from the city center and the kitchen is a little bit old. Also, the only way to get sunlight into the room was to keep the blinds open, which meant that everybody else that was on the shared balcony could see directly into your room. Mens and womens bathrooms are not separated and the shower doors don’t have locks, so that was not nice as anyone could walk into the bathroom and open your shower if they wanted to.
Big room (we had a double with a shared bathroom) with a toilet right outside on the shared balcony, which was very convenient. Free breakfast was a nice.
