Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaOur assigned apartment was in a building which was about 150 meters away from the main building. The distance would not have mattered if it didn't require climbing about a 100 steps.
Location - Historic Alfama district.

United States of AmericaI had read in the reviews that the stairs were challenging. As a fit person, I thought folks were being a bit dramatic. I do have to admit they are, in fact, challenging. They are more like a ship ladder than a stairway. Once the luggage is up, it's fine, but if you struggle with stairs, it really is a consideration. The apartment was very small, but I found it cozy and it had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It is amazing how functional a tiny apartment can be, when it is well thought out.
Convenient location with lots of restaurants just steps away and Fado everywhere. Cozy, well appointed apartment.

GermanyBeds are quite small and there is not enough space to store things, both in the bathroom and in the bedrooms. But nevertheless it is a fantastic place to stay.

CanadaStairs: be aware that these are little walk up 'apartments' and depending on the floor can have quite a few stars. No elevators. Heating/cooling: the vent for this system was obviously/visibly thick with dust. We didn't tell the hotel as we didn't want it cleaned while we were there due to allergies. We simply didn't use it. It's definitely been overlooked for some time. There is no floor space to put a yoga mat and stretch. Something we look for.
Location. We love the Alfalma area. Facilities: great little kitchen and table area for simple food prep in the same room. Views: lovely to look out to the sea Bed: very comfortable Sound: very quiet Overall quaint

IrelandThe apartment was lovely however, the ceilings were quite low and it could get quite warm in the apartment. Thankfully there was AC in the bedroom. Some blinds in the sitting room would be great for privacy, although the windows were tinted so I don't think people could see in.
The location in alfama was gorgeous and so easy to get to the main centre whilst still being able to enjoy the quieter, historic beauty of alfama. The cleaners came every couple of days to give fresh towels and toilet roll.

BulgariaThe Apartment is located in the heart of Alfama. It was cozy and comfortable. There was everything needed for our stay. The apartment was clean and warm enough. There is a coffee machine and the host regularly provides additional tea and coffee-capsules. We enjoyed walking on the steep stone streets. The orange trees smelt fantastic in that period of the year.

United States of AmericaWonderful place! Close to the center and in the historic part of the town. It's a small space with stairs that go up and prepare yourself to go up and down(which we don't mind at all) if you are in good shape you will be fine. Space had everything we needed. The highlight of the space was the balcony. We loved waking up every morning to the beautiful view of the water and watching stars at night. Super clean and bed was so comfortable. Our host met us and showed us around. He was so lovely and kind. It's close to restaurants/cafes/bodegas/pharmacy. Highly recommend when visiting Lisbon. Alfama is full of charm, history and absolutely stunning streets.

MaltaThe only thing that bothered us was the fact that in the morning a weird fishy smell would come out from the kitchen sink. When we spoke to the receptionist about this they told us its because of the tides of the river. It was not there fault, but it bothered us.
Kitchen is well equipped, flat is spacious with nice views. Many windows which is great to look at sunset and sunrise. The décor of the flat is nice too! Great location, easy access to main areas.
