Honestly, for the price we paid it exceeded expectations.

A really lovely place to stay - not a luxury hotel, but the owner messaged me to warn me. I was pleasantly surprised by just how clean and welcoming the place is, with a great plant filled terrace to catch the morning sun. Love the polite and friendly hosts and the generous breakfast every morning - perfect if you are here to hike and explore.

It was a wonderful experience to stay at Vila Teresinha! The location is perfect and the hosts were extremely welcoming. I highly recommend it if you want to have a real taste of Funchal - the whole place feels really authentic, unique and filled with good energy of the owners. The breakfast was also delicious and we really enjoyed taking it on the terrace. Thank you so much for making our stay so perfect!

The only small issue is hot water in shower, from time to time, it always came on but you needed to let it run for a few minutes

Had a lovely stay here. Delighted with the location so close to everything. Literally 5 mins from La Vie shopping centre if you need anything. Less than 10 mins to the centre and a great selection of restaurant options. The location is a huge bonus if you are about town you can come and go throughout the day. As a solo female i always felt safe in the area. Had a lovely balcony with beautiful views and sunrises that I really enjoyed. Hosts were kind and friendly and the place was spotless. Kettle in room which was great and use of fridge Great value for money. An authentic, welcoming experience, old style but for me exactly what i needed. A quiet comfortable stay

The information about parking the rental car. The park on the other side of the road has only parking for three hours, and then you need to come back and buy another ticket. But there are parking garages very close.

I liked the location. It was so near the city heart yet it was so quiet at night. Loved it! Breakfast was very nice, bread, eggs, cakes, coffee and juice.

The staff were fantastic really nice and helpful. Location, breakfasts etc all good. Room was disappointing it was so dark, We hadn't expected that. Facilities in room shower etc were fine . Terrace and view lovely. We would definitely come back but would need a lighter room. We were in room number 3 I think it was. Location was great.

I have to mention the TV sitting on top of the wardrobe and not really any use there! I didn't try to use it and I didn't miss it anyway. Sitting outside in the evening, I got a few midge bites, nothing much but I'd bring repellant next time.

The friendly, helpful hosts made me feel at home. Great breakfasts. Simple but spotless room which was cleaned daily. Access to a lovely terrace, a microwave and a fridge. Sea views. The location is quiet, with a nice mix of locals and visitors. It's close to the English Church (worth checking out the concerts) and the nearby restaurants are relaxed and friendly. It's a few minutes walk from La Vie, which has a good supermarket downstairs, and 10 minutes from Marina Shopping which is a favourite pick-up point for island tours and levada walks. For me, it was ideal, and I'd certainly go back.

The residence is a bit old and some stuff need refurbishment but nothing serious

Our recent stay at this pension was truly delightful, The pension offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it a great choice for those seeking a comfortable stay.We opted for an upgrade to enjoy a balcony with a sea view, and it was well worth it. However, what pleasantly surprised us was the free access to a common balcony where we could relish a terrace with an equally superb view. The owners of the pension are kind and hospitable. They take the time to ensure their guests have a memorable stay. One highlight was the breakfast – the owners personally prepare a comprehensive spread that caters to various tastes. Despite the official breakfast start time being 8:00, the owners graciously accommodated our request to have breakfast 15 minutes earlier, allowing us to embark on a day trip and catch our flight with ease. The pension's central location is another notable feature. It provides convenient access to key attractions, making exploration of the surroundings a breeze.

This is a wonderful place to stay right in the center of Funchal. We stayed here on our first trip to Madeira and had a really nice experience. The room was comfortable and we had access to a beautiful deck with a view of Funchal and the sea. Every morning we were served a huge breakfast in the breakfast room with the same lovely view of the city and the sea. The managers of this guesthouse were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

This is not a critique, but rather just a tip: if you stay here in August / September, head over to La Vie and get some bug repellent, because the mosquitoes don't respect your privacy and - despite the closed curtains - they keep coming in. 😃 The place itself is top-notch and there's nothing to mention here.

Staying at Vila Teresinha was definitely good value for the money! The hosts are welcoming, friendly, funny and they also make sure you don't leave for a hike without a huge breakfast customized to your needs (coffee/tea, multiple egg options, fresh fruit salad, cookies and freshly baked bread/croissant you can smell from the terrace at 7.30 in the morning!). The room was sparkling clean and was cleaned every day. I was lucky enough to book one with a balcony, so I could enjoy a wonderful Sunrise every morning before breakfast and an awesome view to the downtown and the marina. The facilities were more than enough for my needs - water cooker & fan in the room, fridge, microwave & cutlery in the hallway. The bed was comfortable. The location is also excellent; very close to the city center, but the neighborhood is quiet. Everything is within walking distance; shopping center La Vie, municipal garden, taxies etc... 5 minutes, main bus station, cable car, old town within 20-25 minutes.

The only available room window faced the common terrace, resulting in noise, cigarette smoke, etc.

The host couple was always very kind and helpful. I especially appreciated the rich breakfast, the fact the guesthouse was located a few minutes from downtown, and the possibility of parking (paid parking, but for a modest amount) in front of the property.
